"I'm Reporting you"

I saw a topic about reporting, and rather then respond in that thread I decided that I needed to start a new one because the subject has degraded severely. Before I begin, let me make it clear that I have not been punished for anything. Never have, hopefully never will.

I understand there is such a thing as vindictive reporting in this game. I have been a victim of this myself. How do I know this?! Because the player boldly and unashamedly typed that he was in a 3 man premade and that they were all gonna report me just to get me banned. But I wasn't/ and am not concerned with this because I did nothing wrong in the game. People cannot gang up on you and get you banned from this game if you don't type EXTREMELY NEGATIVE COMMENTS.

The chat logs will prove your guilt or innocence. People cannot manufacture reasons to get you banned due to losing games.

How could someone report over a lost game? It's not an available option, so they'd have to falsify a report, which will probably come out in the wash (aforementioned chat logs).

The very idea that someone thinks they're getting chat banned or temp banned from losing games is laughable to me. You're being punished for being toxic. Nothing more.

90% of the games I play have toxic flamers in them. If ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS are exchanged between my own teammates, I will report them; win or lose.

I saw a thread awhile ago titled roughly, "Can people figure out if you reported them?" Not surprised to have found replys calling the OP a coward, completely undermining the point of the thread. But I'd like to address the attitude of being vocal about reporting.

When has threatening to report a player ever made things better?

Never. All it does is make you feel good about tearing someone down. I honestly wish that Riot would make an automated system that rejects reports from players that have the word "report" in their chat log that game. You're not a tough guy or hero for trying to scare people with reporting. You're actually worse then the people who say extremely negative comments, because now you've given them a valid reason to report you back.

If reporting is not kept discrete, then it's meaningless. If a player really deserves to be reported, you don't need to persuade your teammates to report.

Play the game to win, and part of winning is maintaining good team morale. Remove yourself from the standard of negativity. If someone on your team is laughably underwhelming, calling them an "idiot" isn't gonna fix a damn thing. Play around them and don't use the chat to attack people. You can't make people play better, so stop wasting your time and energy by being negative.

If people play to win, without perpetuating negativity, and discretely report negativity when it occurs, I think they'll find that not only will they win more games but also improve the culture of this game.
