Unranked to X - What are we supposed to learn?
So this is something I've been wondering on and off as I've been poking around the web looking for gameplay examples and things to try to improve my own play. I'm silver 3, so I know I'm average at best and I have a lot to learn/champion pool to master. But I commonly see these videos titled "unranked to diamond" or "road to diamond" etc. that are intended as educational videos targeted at players like myself who feel they can watch and learn to gain insight in how to improve their own gameplay to climb.
But as I sit and watch these videos, most of them feature either high skill cap/floor champions, or pretty much serve to showcase how well these people who make these videos have mastered the game from a mechanical standpoint, able to make judgement calls and execute plays that a fair majority of players at the skill level they're climbing through wouldn't be able to. They don't highlight their decision making of the where's, when's and why's of what they're doing for players to understand what they should be looking for to manage their risks.
So I guess I have to ask, what are we supposed to learn from this format of videos? Has anyone found them helpful at all aside from watching their favorite content creator go ham and carry for entertainment value? If anyone has found any of these vids helpful, whom do you suggest watching and why?
I just don't feel like I'm learning anything from watching people who are clearly more skilled at the game go forth and nigh-on wordlessly wreck the enemy team in a montage of cut commentary style videos.
