Thoughts on Nasus' new lore?

So along with Taliyah's PBE release they've gone ahead and updated a number of Shuriman champion lores - Nasus among them. For those who missed it or haven't read it for yourself yet here it is.

** ''What was fallen will be great again.'' **

_ Nasus is an imposing, jackal-headed Ascended being from ancient Shurima, a heroic figure regarded as a demigod by the people of the desert. Fiercely intelligent, he was a guardian of knowledge and peerless strategist whose wisdom guided the ancient empire of Shurima to greatness for many centuries. After the fall of the empire, he went into self-imposed exile, becoming little more than a legend. Now that the ancient city of Shurima has risen once more, he has returned, determined to ensure it never falls again._

Now, is it just me, or does this seem like a completely new direction for Nasus from his old lore? Even after the Institute of War got retconned and he was last touched up with Azir's release, he seemed to be neutral about the implications of Azir's return and frankly more concerned over the return of Renekton and Xerath. His current dialogue made it seem like he was...I wouldn't say happier, but better off knowing that the remnants of the past were buried and would likely stay that way.

"Perhaps Shurima was meant to fall." "Some things must remain buried."

He's undoubtedly remorseful over Shurima's fall and especially the fate of Renekton...but would he really seriously consider assisting Azir and opening that can of worms all over again?

What are your thoughts?

The later quote might refer to Xerath and renekton, not to shurima as a nation.

And the "Perhaps Shurima was meant to fall." could either mean that they had to learn from such an experience to create a stable country,or that he has some doubts about rebuilding shurima.
