Opinions on my cover letter
Hey guys, im planning on applying to Riot, and I wanted some feedback on my cover letter before i send it in, so please read and give comments and suggestions :)
Dear Incredibly Attractive Rioter,
I am writing to you for a position as a developer. Riot Games is arguably my favorite Game Development team, and I want to be a part of the team that turns Riot Game into Riot Games. I have a passion for game design, and I want to spend the rest of my life creating fun and enjoyable games for players to experience. I love working on games with people who are just as passionate about the game as I am, which is honestly difficult to come across. That is why I feel like I would fit right at home in the riot games office. I am a student for Computer Science with a concentration in Game Design, and I have knowledge in C++ and Python, and I am currently working to improve my skills with these languages as well as learning on my own how to program with other languages such as Java, C#, and HTML.
I am very passionate about game design and I have created a variety of games. I have created a tabletop RPG, that I have dubbed “The Dice Game” that is nearing the completion of its third iteration, and I'm currently working on a tabletop game that fuses the ideas of Civilization with DnD. I have also created many simple computer games, such as a blackjack and poker simulator. I excel at improving or modifying existing code, and I aim to improve upon the League of Legends experience by creating game modes that are engaging as single player, and co-op experiences. I believe that creating various champion and lore related game modes would enhance the experience of the player, as well as giving more variety and options for those that like to experience games in different ways.
As I said, I am passionate and willing to work with passionate people, and in fact, that's really the only way I can work. I believe that anything can always be improved and with multiple people with different perspectives working on one project, that quickly becomes a reality. I believe that I have the critical thinking abilities and willingness to look at things from a different perspective to benefit Riot Games with their endeavors in creating a better player experience, as well as the willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to the everchanging culture of Riot and League of Legends. Eventually, I would also like to potentially help to create a brand new or multiple brand new IPs that would enable Riot to grow to achieve its ideal of becoming the most player focused Game Develper company that they can be.
I believe that my skills and personal traits would not only make me the perfect fit for Riot Games, but make Riot Games the perfect fit for me. I sincerely hope you consider my application, and I can't wait to hear from you guys.
