I have a question about reporting and getting reported

So I just got done playing an ARAM with my friend... my headset broke so we were typing in chat instead. I finished with the best score of the team but after the game the Rammus said he reporting me for CHATTING!? Granted we were talking about things other than the game as well but it wasn't disrupting the game play AT ALL. Most of the time it was between deaths anyway... I'm really erkked by this because I'm a REALLY nice player I believe. Friendly and always try to be positive, never harass or go off on people instead I try to encourage them and say things like "No worries, it happens, you go this" etc.. so now I have a report on me.. my question, does simply having been reported affect my account standing in any way or does it have to be voted on to be punished by the tribunal? Do I know have a negative mark on me for simply being reported? And FOR CHATTING!? That really really erks me.

Don't worry about it. Unless you appeared to be harassing someone or using racist/sexist/homophobic remarks etc. the report won't even be validated, and assuming it does it's still irrelevant unless you get reported often.

A report by itself is not going to do anything to your your standing, but it does not have to be voted on either. Basically getting enough reports will trigger a review of your account but if there's nothing to find, it doesn't matter.

Off-topic chat spam can be a problem if it's enough to be extremely distracting to the other players on your team. But it takes a lot more than one report to make anything happen to you.
