anyone else miss when Riot actually seemed do work for the game and its customer base?

Though I may be slightly angry right now I am going to try and keep that out of this and go with things I remember that are now seemingly gone. Such as how time was taken to give us lore for the game, the nice weekly new or what not that they would release that gave us a feeling of being part of this nice world. The lore that would be released for new champions, even when riot would release a new champion every other week you could feel the work they put into the game with the stories of how the champion got there and the dreams they had. I for one miss the server downtime because that meant we had stable servers and didn't have these moments where the servers would end up laggy for everyone without notice because of a hot fix or patch riot decided to add. It seem like they have brought back some of the community interaction but I feel like it has been lost over the years. This is all things I am comparing to when I first joined the game in season 1 a week before the released Leona and maybe I was just mystified by the shiny newness that the game had for me but it felt like they had really wanted to make a game that was a step up above all others. Now that they have almost reached that I feel like the common players is placed on a back seat while they focus on other things and try to distract us of bugs they have not fixed yet with temporary game play that they remove later so we don't get too used to having it. I really do hope things can turn around with the outbreak of new mobas that are always being released as I have put a lot of time and money in this game and now it seems to be filled with angry people (myself included sometimes) and no show from riot that they are looking at the common player with more than a glance. As for people like myself who sometimes are not the best we can be and do get punished by riot I also miss when riot told us what we did, I mean what good is punishing me if I don't fully know the reason and will just do it again the next day or even in a few minutes in another game. Does anyone else feel this same way or am I the only one who thinks we have gone past the golden age?
