Project rewards/hextech crafting

So does anybody know what we can do with the hextech Project items when we don't have enough cores? Like I have a Project Leona skin shard from the Project cache's but I already have the skin and the only option I have it says it to fuse it with cores? Is there anything I can do with that stuff or do I just have to wait for the next Project promotion?
