urf mode was never fun even when it first came out. For the simple reason there is no balance behind it at all. Take shaco for instance. He is allowed to place just a insane amount of traps be pretty much perma stealthed and ap is just retardo on him. So in urf mode you get a perma stealth champion that hits you with e none stop from unknown location with a mine field around him for zero chance to chase.
Lets look at jax now. pretty much has a perma stun with a perma gap closer and takes no AA damage while doing this. Again another abusive arrange of skills that have little that a player can do around it besides let someone on his team takes the first stun and hope you can burst him down without AAs hitting him. very binary in the way you have little you can really do to play around the kits.
There is a lot more of course, but these are just example of why urf will never actually be a fun game mode and its more of a quick gimmick where you can experiment imo on learning how to land flash vi Q combos. And other things like that
I think people should be looking at urf mode differently. You should be using it for chances to get low summoner spell c/d for you can try flash move combos to improve your gameplay.
