Servers?

So I'm here to talk about the server migration that is about to occur.

But before I begin, I want to let you guys know. That Eastern NA is long overdue for this change, and ping change. I'm looking forward that you guys get better ping and enjoy the fact that riot finally did something ;3.

But what bothers me is, that. By giving you guys your lower ping, they've just hurt the west coast side.

You don't fix someone's bullet wound, by shooting them again in a different place.

What I don't get are the following.

Taken from Wiki.

North America Area 24,709,000 km2 (9,540,000 sq mi) Population 565,265,000 (2013, 4th)

Europe Area 10,180,000 km2 (3,930,000 sq mi)[n] (6th) Population 742,452,000[n] (2013; 3rd)

And Europe has 2 servers.

Server Type Date Established Languages Location

Europe Nordic & East EUNE July 13th 2010 English, Greek, Romanian, Polish, Hungarian, Czech Amsterdam, Netherlands Europe West EUW July 13th 2010 English, German, Spanish, French, Italian Amsterdam, Netherlands

Now the only thing Europe has going for was that it has 200m more population in 2013. Which yes maybe you need a 2nd server to manage all the players. I understand.

But don't you think NA is about there now?

North america not only doubles Europe in how large of a Continent. But our population is most likely almost nearing the same as what Europe's was in 2013.

I think it's time that we get a NA East. And a NA West.

Not only does it make all the East coast players happy, but it also keeps all the West coast players happy as well.

And don't forget all the competitive teams who moved near Portland for lower ping.

At least these are my thoughts on the situation...

Feel free to post any comments or ideas..

If a rioter would feel free to enlighten me as to why Riot games the company does not want to split up NA at this time feel free to comment.

Wait, NA is bigger the EU.

I legit never new that, guess you learn something new everyday.

ONTOPIC:

Yeah I kinda agree that maybe it is time for 2 servers. But at the same time, maybe the reason why EU had 2 was because it's playerbase was so high. Maybe NA's isn't there yet?

How many of you even know what it takes to make a server? Ok So shut up and quit whining.

Real talk I don't understand why they are simply moving the servers so far east. You would think they would pick somewhere more central so the west coast doesn't now have to deal with what the east coast did prior to the move. :/

Korea and EUW are both bigger servers than NA. Even with the EUNE server the EUW server still has almost 1 million more players than NA...so I think 1 server is completely fine.

Considering both EU servers are in Amsterdam, they spilt off.. I have a theory Put the main server in Dallas and then have 2 splits in say florida and portland

NA:

                                                                                          MAIN
                                                               WEST EAST

What the main server would do is where all the activity is started from main and whatever east/west server summoner chooses it will go from their ISP to EAST to Main..that way minimal salt and no favoritisim,,

This is totally true.. But I mean the NA server move is better for everyone. I live in New Jersey so you can probably guess the horrible lag I get XD but since Chicago is like near the center of America, it actually won't be so bad for West Cost. they won't lag as bad as we have and will have around the same oong as the East Cost now that it will be pretty balanced out. And honestly, west coasters should not even be complaning (not saying all of you guys are, ik it's a small minority) because now less of their teammates will lag and have AFK issues. It will actually make everything better for everyone imo.

Well, more in relation to the server move. I'm in the military stationed in Hawaii. As it stands now I get anywhere from 85-100 ms. By moving the servers to Chicago i imagine the game will be largely unplayable. I don't claim to be super competitive or even good at the game, but if I'm looking at 130+ ms ping it's a very big deal. This change might completely alienate an entire (albeit small) group of players. I haven't tested my ping in other regions, but free transfer aside, I lose the ability to play with my friends.

Real talk..... IT'S ABSURD THEY DON'T HAVE A USEAST AND USWEST!

I agree. The fact that Europe, the second smallest continent on this Earth, has more servers than NA (more dedicated servers, the LAN server does not count), is ridiculous. Hell, South America has THREE SERVERS! THREE OF THEM! THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! And yet North America, the third largest region in playerbase (I think), has one server.

I dunno, your analogy doesn't make sense to me. It's not a case of shooting you somewhere else.

Both sides are going to be relatively even now, to say that west coast got screwed in the deal is a little silly, honestly. Their ping will be the same as mine currently is (as I live in Illinois) and I have never noticed input lag when playing at my 67 ping unless it was inconsistent.
