Official LoL Replay SysteM

There should most definitely be a built in LoL replay system that is very easy to utilize and access. Lots of people talk about LoL Replay and other replay clients but most of them are illegitimate and not that great. It's about time for an implementation of one in the game that can be turned on and off in game setting and such.

Please @Riot take this into consideration. I will poll if it counts for anything. Thank you for reading this suggestion, and summonses please leave an honest poll vote :)

Uh replay was said to be in the works by riot back in 2010 (they even had an icon on the PBE) but NOTHING has come of it (they abandoned it as far as we know).

With the announced redesign on the client, I suspect there may be a return for it. When you're starting from the ground up, it's a lot easier to build such tools in.

Which doesn't mean it will, by any means (I haven't heard anything about it), just that it's a good opportunity to revisit the idea.

Sorry the way i worded it before was a bit dickish because i was in a bad mood but am not now (Yay anti-depressants)

What you say is very true, what I believe they should do is design it around interconnectivity with other platforms (Twitch streaming integration, Youtube instant uploading from in-client, and easy editing software integration) as it would allow much better use by the community than just a replay system.

Phew! While that would be pretty awesome, that would be a huge project all by itself. Keep in mind that replays like that are basically just lists of actions and timestamps that are rendered by the client, so they'd have to build in video conversion software, then integrate editing software, and so on.

Which would be awesome... but a major project that may well double the file-size of the client. I think that I'd prefer (at least for now) a simpler system designed with the intention of expansion. Assuming, of course, that they bother.

Sorry for the late reply.

I feel it would be worth the effort and man hours to make it a major project. As for doubling the file size not entirely true if they were to have it be an additional download that had to be chosen through the settings of the downloader (Checkbox with verification in the options menu, where the Allow Peer to Peer Transfer checkbox is). This allows players to choose whether they want to download the additional files or not (thus it is not required to play the game).

I would just like to point out that this was over six months ago and we haven't heard a single thing from Riot at all regarding the client since then. I know you touched on that in your second paragraph, but it deserves repeating because it's concerning.

I was intending to reference their recent purchase of CrossPvP, but in rereading my post, I don't know how anyone would have gotten that.

It looks like they're actively searching for UX people (hired Astral, who developed Wintermint; and now Boompje, who developed CrossPvP). That leads me to believe that it's definitely something they're working on, but may be a good ways out yet.

I don't see who would dislike this idea but I think if Riot wanted to officially design such a feature, they would have done it by now. They must have reasons to not; laziness, low cost-benefit projections, or something.

Does LoL Replay or anything work? Why do people say watch replays and stuff (to get better)? What do they use? And any youtubers, thats usually replays. Is there a good systmem

They've been working on replays for quite some time. Apparently there are some slight issues around roughly eleventy bajillion matches being played every day that make it complicated to roll out on a wide scale.

It's a little absurd that they don't at least have LoLReplay-like functionality available, though.

The last time I have heard Riot reference replay functionality was 2012. This is likely anecdotal, of course, but if it has been three years since it was last discussed I think it's safe to say it's not an active project.

I thought it was available for testing on the PBE much more recently than that. But it certainly doesn't seem to be a super high priority.

As far as I'm aware, it has a priority of precisely zero.

I think they could do it and just make it part of the client on your side they would not half to make it server based instead it would automatically store the recorded files in the leagues system files and they could do it by just editing the .ini of the record system to store onced finished on the system the game is stored on. they need to do the same with the item sets, runes, and masteries so that if you move to a new computer all you half to do is take the files put them on a cloud or hard drive and move them over. not only would this help users but I could clear up the servers a little as well.
