Too late for ranked?

Sorry if I missed this topic, but I couldn't find it.

I'm a semi-new player, and I JUST hit 30. For the sake of argument, let's assume I'm pretty good, but still have things to learn. Is there any point in getting some ranked games in? How late is too late, or more correctly, when should I just not bother and wait for the new season?

You may have missed out on season rewards, but you can still play ranked. When the reset does occur at the start of the new season, where you end up does have an influence on where you get placed, after playing out your placement matches.
