Solo Q, especially Bronze 5 has to be terrible. All of Bronze is terrible for the most part. You getting out of Bronze is completely based on two things.

That you yourself are not a giant bolder. Not feeding, not going AFK, not dieing when attempting to jungle... etc. etc. You dont have to carry, just don't be a burden.

Luck. This one more than anything. In Bronze especially you are surrounded by alot of the players from point 1. Luck is what you really need. The chance of said person being on the enemy team and not yours.
What you can do.
Very little. All you can do is try to influence the outcome of games as much as possible. When I was climbing back out of Bronze I initially tried to carry as ADC. Well that didn't work out. Course you could say it was me, but ultimately it's because the support makes the ADC in lane. The support makes the plays, protects, pokes, basically the success of the ADC is completely dependent on your support. I didn't get enough games with decent supports in bronze so ultimately I usually did not get ahead enough to carry games.
I don't know what role you like to play, but my advice to you is play a champion and a role which has the potential to highly influence games. In bronze 5 I would suggest Yi. Play him top lane or jungle. Yi has insane carry potential.
I also played alot of Soraka support. a lot of lower tiered players don't understand that you kill the Soraka and dont just let her keep spamming heals into her allies. Soraka can keep your ADC alive so he does not lose lane. If he does it is probably 100% his fault unless for some reason you are walking up and getting engaged on.
Soraka has her heals which greatly influence the late game. Of course she is only able to really benefit the team if you are not horribly behind at 10 minutes.
JAx top is another good pick. Lux mid, Ahri mid, or Zed Mid. Only pick mid if you are comfortable roaming to other lanes and ganking. Chances are they won't have wards and you can just dance your way up or down for ganks.
