Finding a main champion

Hi guys. I just hit level 20, and I think I know the game well enough right now where I can afford to concentrate on a single champion.

For context, I am a 6k elo dota 2 player, and I think I have the right mentality for improving my gameplay. But, so far, I've played a lot of different champions and haven't really focused on learning any of them specifically.

So, after browsing through the pool, I found a few I'm interested in, and I kinda formed an idea of what I want, and I'd like some help choosing, although I have read into their playstyles and stuff.

I am looking for a champion that is versatile, can be played in multiple roles successfully, but is also interesting and fun to play.

The two primary ones I came up with are Gangplank and Shen. The concept of the barrels is something I find really cool, and I imagine that global ultimate is a pretty good tool for helping your team from your lane. For Shen, I like the concept of the disembodied magic sword hanging around, as well as the dodge, the taunt, and the shield passive. His ultimate ability seems to be very powerful as well.

As for the other champions I am interested in, I took a liking to reksai after free week a while back, and am also interested in Jhin, but afaik they can't really do a lot of roles.

Honestly, I would recommend trying the free-week champions for a couple games each. Or, at least, the ones who look interesting to you.

However, if you came from DOTA2, you may already have a general idea of what types of champions you enjoy or what play-style you prefer. If you can provide more information about what champions you like to play, we might be able to provide some more specific examples for you to try.

If you pick Shen be mentally prepared for when whoever you ult runs away and wastes it. Jhin and reksai are limited to 1 role each while shen and gp have plenty of flexibility.

If you want a champ that can be played in different roles shen is actually a decent pick. I mainly play him top but he can be played in the jg and as a support as well. He is very easy to farm with by using his buffed Q autos to last hit. Generally speaking in top you will just want to play passive and be looking for fights elsewhere on the map once you hit 6. Ofcourse also take TP so you can get right back into lane. I normally rush ZZ'rot portal so I can still have some lane pressure even when I leave. The build path isnt the best, but its not the worst as you can itemize against an AP or AD top laner with ZZ'rot. I would recommend shen if you want to play a champion that makes saves and gets into the middle of a fight.

Also if you want to play you can add me and I would be more than willing to show you how I play him to give you an idea what to do.
