Illaoi Support

Hey guys,

I've been seeing a bunch of Illaoi top and sometimes (rarely) in the jungle, but I've been thinking she might have some great potential as a support. More of a harrass/ not allowing the enemy not lane to play by exploiting the mechanics of her E test. Obviously you can pull off a good amount of harass with it, and you can force one of your lane opponents to play dodge the tentacle for a minute. This might make it possible to snowball based off a level lead if you can force them into an early back.

Now obviously she has some problems as a support: low MS, lack of hard cc, being melee, and lacking an escape etc..

I can just imagine the more/Illaoi botlane just snowballing you out of lane and being generally annoying.

I don't have a good idea on a build yet outside of Dead man's plate and maybe targons. I'd love to hear some community theory crafting on this if anyone's got an idea of a good build/ start.

Thank you and have a nice day.

I play illaoi support and it was not that bad... For early game. I was able to land most of my Es and having a graves adc help break souls really ez I recommend starting off targons because you're tentacles of E will end up taking farm because I didn't want to lose a slot I build the ward targons then went for BC And try to workaround to get to the 40% cdr with harbinger . We lost the game however because we didn't transition well into late game due to the lack of cc you on the team

I like to play her support more then top lane to be honest. One thing you have to take note of is between the times you get a soul pull and the time your adc is farming. Pull to much and not making anything happen with it is pointless if you can't dps it down so they can get back to farming. Plus it is only 25 gold compared to all the gold your adc may have missed trying to dps it. Also keep in mind that they get 15 gold for every tentacle they kill. So you and your adc really have to be in-sync so you are not wasting to much time and can capitalizing on the extra tentacles hanging around. Mind you most of this is an early to mid game problem once lanes break it's just a free for all. Any adcs with a dodged or block hurt her poking game Lucian Sivir Etc Etc, So be sure to try and bait it out by just walk forward to them or hitting them with your with her Q. If the dodge it then hey it's gone and on cd and if they don't than it's free dmg and a heal for you.

Illaoi support is oppressive as hell. Her AD ratios and innate sustain make fighting her very difficult, especially while their ADC is raining hellfire and doom on you. It's less about supporting through technique than simply pounding down the opposition with the combined power of Illaoi and her ADC. And since her AD ratios are so high, she gets huge pushing power with just a few small damage items. So Illaoi can just hang back and engage as necessary, letting the ADC farm as much as they want.

I've been anticipating Illaoi support since she was introduce, and tbh i spent the money to buy the skin and the champ like many others. I'd recommend exactly what I did; which is: Go into quite a bunch of bot games with no one else and find the build that way. I've been exploring about for the days she's been out and got a handle on all her powers. ATM she's capable of pulling the "You don't know what my champ does" Card on foes causing cases of rage quits or short lived hungry try hards coming to feed you provided... PROVIDED you have some tentacles out. Normally on top you wanna up grade her power of Q first to raise the AD ratios on the tentacles but on bot lane it will be mainly focused on her E. Considering at max rank it transfers 40% + AD% on a champ you bind. Meaning if they have full HP you can knock out a decent poke off their hp to a ton provided you went AD hard poke Illaoi. However I have more luck with a Sterak and then building a Dead-mans following up with boots of mobility then charging some good HP counter items. A frozen mallet or a omen would be nice. Now as for her W you really wanna not spam this power. Illaoi~Blitzcrank... They have the same kinds of rotation its just her is for a more complexed manor. She can use her W to get a bit out of position when stunned or slowed, and sometimes its good to just grab the soul then chase the laners down forcing them out. Keep in mind that it starts the 1 minute Debuff which if they recall too soon it will give the tentacle just enough time to hit them recalling. Illaoi is aggressive like Cassiopeia and unless you play her aggressive and pick the right locations for her tentacles it can be a hard life on bot lane. Most times if your unsure how her passive works: You want to play a few custom games and find the spawn points exactly, but they are on-top of turrets (which the enemy turret cannot hit) they spawn on the rocks in the base and in all bushes. HOWEVER, they do not spawn on walls that are to thin or in areas that a tentacle is to close to. Positioning is Key and in order for her to also thrive is to set an area up and to not chase to hard. I'm not a good example for not doing that but hey everyone has to start somewhere. Either way feel free to add me in game to exchange more info and to practice. Illaoi is a Teacher, so you need to make then "Learn!" to not walk into the Kracken's grasp. IE Set up 2 tentacles or more if able, take a soul right before a team fight 3 are in the team fight plus the soul you ult and then that is a total of 7 tentacles. Your W will heal you just remember your objective is to save the enemies for your team and to keep your team safe so try not to get carry hard. That is why you have Brand+Mejias as a support xD [zombie-brand-mindblown]
