I need help with Yi

So, I like to play MasterYi (please don't hate me), and as soon as ANY game goes on for over ~40.00 minutes, usually when most players are full build, I cannot seem to win, no matter how good my team does, simply because I'm useless.item 3070 It's when 5v5 is the only way to win a game that I cannot seem to get anything right, either I can't assassinate anyone because nobody leaves the 5-man formation or the teamfight gets initiated and as soon as I try to go in, I get obliterated in a matter of milli-seconds. item 3026 didn't prove as a life--and gamesaver either, because once I'm revived I get immediatly shoot down. Can any better MasterYi player than I am give me some advice on how to play MasterYi late-game?

PS : Yes, I know my damage is absolutely terrifying, but I can't seem to get to the backline without getting killed, and if I focus frontline I get killed by backline.

I don't play Yi, so this is speculation, but it may be worth pondering.

Yi has prodigious damage and attack speed. This makes him incredible at ripping people apart, but it also makes him a devastating split pusher when he puts the heat on. Now of course you could try to get your game influence by split pushing and forcing them to either leave you alone or split one or more people to stop you; leaving a 4v4 or 3v4 for you team. But if your sights are set on the team fight, why not try making the enemy team think you're off to do something else for a while giving them a chance for a 5v4. If they engage, your team can brawl it out 5v4 and when the cc is spent and people are settling into their committed positions, you run in from behind and clean up.

It just seems like a Yi getting pinned down by cc is a Yi in the wrong scenario. He might not have stealth, but he looks like he should use similar ambush tactics to suddenly shift the balance of a fight rather than be a constant threat presence the way azir or an adc marksman is.
