I just want a red post explaining this.

Hey Riot, not gonna be negative like everyone else, I just want to hear from one of the Rioters since in all other threads there has been no "official" answer. How exactly do these placements work?

I obviously ask because I dont understand why I was placed almost 2 divisions lower than I was when I won 7/10 games. Thank you and have a nice day!

We ask every year... they don't answer every year. Been playing since Season 3 and placement algorithm is a tightly held secret. Only dropped two? That's nice... I dropped from Silver II to Bronze V last year, haven't done my placements yet this year.

damn seriously? LIke I know its a "soft reset" but it looks like higher tier players drop much more than lower elo. My buddy went 2-8 and dropped from Gold 5 to Silver 5, which sucks but makes sense. But I swear I have seen other people who were in gold going like 6-4 getting silver 5.... And now you dropping from plat to silver 3? I know last season I went 7-3 and dropped from silver 3 to silver 5 (makes sense not bad).

I am currently 3-3 and feel like even if I win out or go 6-4 I at best am looking at silver 4 ? :(. I get master & challenger & diamond players can only get up to plat 1 but why when I was silver did I drop only a couple of divisions but if you are higher tier you drop a tier or two?

Gotta love start of season, ranks mean nothing for the first few months. Gold is mostly plat players, silver mostly gold players, bronze is gold/silver/bronze.

There were official explanations from last year's reset after everyone got so upset with the rankings. With the current placement system, the highest one can get from placement is plat one, meaning everyone from from diamond and above would be cramped in to plat and below. That is why people are dropped to tiers below
