Please! A simple option to organize champions!

In champion select, I know that there are a few ways to organize what you're looking at as far as champions go. And, they're all in the search bar. You can search for a specific champion, you can search for a "role" or you can start typing letters and see what comes up.

I've suggested this in the past and gotten flamed for it because some people think it's unnecessary (maybe for them?) but I think it would be a great addition.

It's simple: add the ability to organize champions into groups or tabs that you can parse through at champion select. The idea is similar to the "Item Sets" implementation. For me, in a ranked queue, when I'm limited on time I want to see all of the champions for a particular lane that I usually play. I often fill, but when I only have 30 seconds to look through ALL of the champions I have and decide it makes it difficult.

I propose that we add the option to create champion sets or tabs. For example: a "Mid-Lane" tab would include my current favorite mages, assassins, and even fighters depending on the matchup. It'd be nice to be able to glance at my options and based upon our team comp make a choice rather than look through every single champion I own and try to parse through it.

Past Rebuttals:

  1. "You shouldn't be playing more than one or two champions per lane in ranked queue anyway. You really can't remember what champions you play?"

In short, no. How I play the game and how you play the game doesn't have to be the same. I agree its best to focus on a single champion or two champions per lane but even those champions change rapidly for me due to changes in the patches. In this rebuttal you're essentially asking me to play the exact same way as you, and if I don't I should gtfo.

  1. "You can search by role... why can't you just search for mage and take a glance, and then assassin and take a glance, and then fighter and take a glance?"

That takes a lot of time, and given the current time restraints, it'd be easier to just be able to view all of my options (given the lane circumstance) at once and make a decision. You may not need something like that but a lot of personalities like myself can get flustered at champ select.

  1. "This shouldn't be on the priority list... there are other more important things."

While I agree that this isn't the MOST important thing to be focused on by Riot right now, I also believe that it would add a lot of quality of life to champ select while taking minimal effort to implement.

So are you able to choose the tabs and what champs go in them for yourself manually? Like say, I'd have a tab specifically for champions I want to practice, for instance?

Even aside from any benefits it has to people like you (frankly I have more than one or two for every lane in case of bans or whatever, and sometimes I really know non-meta champs for that lane, shoot me) this would be GREAT for newbies. When you don't really know what's going on but your friend gifts you champs, or you put money into the game to get champs, looking at that huge wall of images won't tell you much. Even if you're experienced when you're short on time it can be overwhelming occasionally.

This is EXACTLY what I have been wishing for for a long time now. I mean, I often end up looking through my list of champions and trying to mentally sort who goes to what lane when I'm trying to select a champ in draft pick.

I would love it if I could just open my "Top Laners" tab and have all of them sitting right in front of me, with everyone else pushed off to the side. It would really help me focus more on a pick.

i am not saying that this is a bad idea.

But there is alot of tech debut that riot already has. I personally would like them to finsh there backlog first before adding anything (like team builder).

I am so tried of Riot saying we can only do so much then they add something completely unneeded. And they are always talking about there tech debut.

Now about the idea itself. I would be worried about people forgetting if they own X champ for trading. When they actually own others and forget about x champs. ( i have friends that don't even know what champs they own). As long as it would be a personal system with a few tweaks it could be good.

Still would rather have riot get on the ball about tech though

I think this is a pretty good idea. Would it be ideal to add notes in the "Champ Sets" as well such as "Play this person against Renekton" or "Play this person when you need a tanky engage?"

It's not that important as you said, but it would be a nice addition.

I really like this idea, I often find myself scrambling to find champions (because I own all of them) and it is just too cluttered with people I don't play. I want to at least filter out champions that I know I do not want to play with.

I don't see any problems with it besides Riot's client sucks and will probably have a shitload of bugs (see: mastery and rune bugs, current and past).

You can actually (kind-of) do this right now with the search function. Keep a word document of champions names organized however you want in different categories and format it like this: "Mid-lane: Ahri|Kayle|Ziggs|Zyra". Put a | in between each name and when you put that into the search bar, it will bring up all of those champs.

although i agree, i think team builder might help us alleviate this issue. Lets just wait and see how that rolls along. lets give riot some time to fix it up and make it pretty... for all we know they might just change it up a bit to help aliviate this kind of stress.

I like your idea. It's true it's not a necessity but it would make things a lot easier. Don't listen to the flamers. Not sure why some people get so upset about an individual's opinion/idea...

Why would you get flamed for this... I think that's a pretty cool idea. Sometimes I see an extremely common champ that I can't remember the counters for, even though I was sure I mained one of them, and end up getting countered myself. (Guessing you can tell how lucky I am) This'd be pretty cool
