Troll reports

I had a really good game as an adc, 15/8/9. I said one thing in chat, I told my support im going mid since she refused to heal my I tanked the tower bot to finish it. Instead ran off to dragon. Anyway but after the game, I honored who i thought deserved it and get a thing saying I was reported for verbal abuse, needless to say my support had some nice choice words to say after I asked her that. I have a 50 some game chat ban but seriously. I've been playing 15+ games now with a chat ban and I just keep to myself ping when I need to and say something if I need to. I don't see why the system would ping that when my support was overally abusive for the rest of the game and I reported for it. Seriously thought troll reporting cause she didnt like what I said. Is there nothing the system does to stop pointless reports that aren't deserved?

Your warning had nothing to do with that game.

There's a lot of complicated stuff going on in the background of the reporting system, but the upshot is this: Players who habitually abuse the report system, by reporting innocent players, are ignored by said report system.

Additionally, before sanctions (such as restrictions or bans) are issued, there is always a review step. Some chat restrictions appear to be automated - by which I mean the review step is handled by a computer algorithm - but all bans are manually reviewed by Riot personnel.

It's not perfect. Only a human can look at chat and truly determine if punishment is required, but the game is just too damned big for that. What it can do, however, is make reports meaningless from those who abuse it. If they threaten to report, it'll even backfire on them because using the report system to coerce players is harassment. If you really didn't deserve it and troll reports get you stuck with a restriction, a Support Ticket is really the only correct course of action. Nevertheless, a single report won't do anything to you (unless you did something severely wrong and gets moderator attention); it takes many reports before you get restricted.

Ok I never really understanded the whole system. I've gotten quite a few bans in the past for overally toxic/trolling games but I got my season rewards taken away. I'm trying really hard to change that behavior, mainly just keeping to myself and muting any toxic players before I get invovled. Like after my support pretty much told me to fuck off in other words I just ignored her and continued the game. I guess I feed into too much, and then it just excalates. Thanks for the info, was really helpful!

Everyone gets the pop up for Verbal Abuse if you report them for it. It has nothing to do with what you did. It's purely because they clicked "Verbal Abuse" when they reported you.

Leaving a lane due to an unskilled teammate is just as bad. You're refusing to play properly because you get angry.
