So I just lost a game with two of my friends

Me and my three friends are all S5, and we had just lost a close game.

My friend starts to flame us two, blaming us on the loss. Sure, we had given the double early in lane, but we still got turret and arguably shut him down until teamfight phase.

First team fight he got a triple. That started his snowball again.

It was a close game, but we ended up losing it.So that brings us to my friend flaming us in Skype. We debated a bit, wether it was my job to protect my Lucian as Braum or dive the Twitch in the team fights. Lucian died either way because they had a better team fight, but as Braum I believed I had to stay with the Lucian, leaving my friend (Jax) to dive the enemy alone. Note: While having to defend Lucian, there was a Nautilus I had to deal with, so it's not like I could have just walked up to Twitch

Eventually, after the debate, my friend (after he realized he was starting to lose the argument) stated in the most obnoxious tone

"And you wonder why you're not gold."

He said this as if he was, and that's what really ticked me off. It is my goal to hit gold, but never have I once complained about being not gold.

I just wanted to get this off my chest. But please, give me advice on this situation: Am I supposed to stay with the Lucian as Braum or dive the Twitch, even though there's the Nautilus on my ADC?

Really depends on the situation, but generally you want to keep with your adc unless you can guarantee a kill or a return kill.

And your friend sounds like a prick.

In that argument, I'd just say, "You didn't ask/ping ahead of time". Shift blame. Tell him you can't read his mind. You did what you thought was right.

Just get over it! Every one flames... if he is consistent just get rid of him!

You can't just give one situation and expect a direct one way or the other answer. It depends on who else was on the team, who was fed, who wasn't fed, positioning and all that. My biggest tip for getting gold is to know the zones of champions, like where their effective range is and how to avoid their abilities if they do get in range. Stay out of their zones until you have a clear advantage. You need to be able to quickly identify what your lane opponent can do at every range and be able to counter-play it. After that, then you focus on fights with multiple people and then objectives, because nobody really knows what they're doing objective wise until high plat. I was high gold/low plat and there's only a handful of games where everyone meshes well with objectives.
