My Little Pony, what is so great about it?
Hi guys, I'm a 28 year old man and I have a 14 month old baby. My wife makes me put on kids shows for him to watch while he shovels food in his mouth with his little baby fingers. Due to this, I've watched 12+ episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
It is literally a show for toddlers based on watching it along with many other shows for toddlers and very young children. Wikipedia says it is geared for girls ages 2 to 11. The show is all about "learning" and "friendship" and "work ethic" etc... all put into 2 year old kid terms just like every other show of the same genre.
So why exactly do adults like it? I mean tv meant for 2 year olds is really REALLY boring. Like, there's absolutely nothing in it whatsoever for adults to enjoy unlike other shows geared for kids a little older than the toddler stage. When I first was watching it I thought that I would see some kind of special quality that would set it apart from other shows geared toward very young children. To me it's just the same as the rest of them. I though that I would watch the show, not like it, yet have a new understanding as to why adult males are so obsessed with it. Well, I have failed to see and understand what is so special about the show.
Can anybody who is in love with MLP give me some in depth detail as to why you guys all love it so much? Maybe I'm missing something? I'm not trying to be biased or anything, I'm just not seeing anything at all. Personally I'm obsessed with spongebob and I'm always happy to watch it whenever it's on so I can understand liking tv shows for kids. It's just that tv shows for toddlers are a whole different spectrum of entertainment that I can't imagine anyone who isn't 2 years old enjoying lol.
