Gold V support/jungle player looking for tips
I started recording my games recently so I can help improve. If anyone will give me some tips on what I need to improve the most. I am posting all of my replays on a youtube account to look at. I sorted they such as game 1, game 2. If anyone is willing to help by looking at even 1 or giving me some ideas of in general what I should focus on. I went through a master improvement checklist and have been watching my replays the past week, and I came up with a list of issues that I'm trying to work on. I don't think I'm pro or anything, I just want to get to diamond this season. I have major trouble with initiator tanks (30-35% winrate and am trying to work on teamfighting/initiating at the proper times because I'm realizing I was trying to frontline at wrong times with the wrong champ and forcing bad engages) I play janna/soraka/sona currently, and am going to pick up braum/nami soon. I also play hecarim/zac/dr. mundo and am looking to pick up reksai/elise. I play ezreal/caitlyn only as ad because they can 1v2 lane and 99% of the time if I play ad my support has 0 lane presence, and the other 1% of the time my support has negative lane presence.
Here's my list so far:
- Mute any summoner at 1st sign of negative behavior
- Keep track of all summoners on all champs
- Ward safely…if no vision and is a dangerous situation or late game, ask for help from others or wait for enemies to show on the map. Otherwise, ward without putting myself at any risk, even if it means slightly conceding a small amount of additional vision
- Deward objectives before doing. Don’t do baron/dragon without smite
- Auto whenever there is an opportunity
- Don’t take free damage. If my carry or teammate isn’t in position to follow up, don’t inititate
- Body block for carries
- Position so my carry doesn’t have to overextend to help me
- It isn’t worth dying to clear a ward. If I can’t safely get the ward or the enemy contests the ward and I cannot definitely win the fight, I will back off
- Wait longer before throwing linear skillshots. Aim for enemy feet. Use movement prediction to learn their patterns if they always dodge a certain way. Try to walk up and get on enemy before throwing skillshot, or use slows or other lockdown 1st to make the shot easier to hit.
- Rework my item builds based off of probuilds.net
- Watch my own replays; make notes and improve
- Stay with team lategame. Look at map. Must be there if fight could break out.
- Help adc farm ranged minions under turret. Hit them 1 time.
- Be more vocal with back ping when team is in a bad situation
- Avoid tunneling
- Improve teamfighting/peeling
- If I start fighting or am caught, look at the minimap to see where my allies are and adjust my pathing so they can help
- Hold gapclosers/skills in enemy has one. Make them use theirs 1st.
- Use red/blue smite during ganks appropriately.
- Roam better. Roam based on when adc backs and other lane matchups and summoners down for the enemy team.
- Ward for my laners as much as possible
- If team doing baron/dragon, I will tell them if my smite is on cooldown
- Retaliation trades. Improve trading stance
- Don’t tank minions/ tunnel and avoid them when fighting an enemy. They do damage, and orb walk so they hit u less and get agro off of you. Don’t fight in the wave of melees. Walk towards safety on the minimap.
- When trading, use ability, and then as soon as you see the animation go off, begin moving backward to give the enemy less chance to counterplay
- Improve exhaust usage to optimize exhaust. Use to save ally or kill enemy.
- Always ward before pushing lane
- See enemy jungler on other side of the map=> use as an opportunity to deep ward
- Make more rift herald calls. Especially if top is way ahead, or enemy jungler is bot.
- Play all champions to know what they do. Know all abilities of all champions
- Improve at dodging skillshots.
- Stay with the carry to peel . Especially important for teamfights.
- Look at enemy champions and react to their cast animation
- Decipher what opponent knows based on his/her reaction
- If playing ADC, when support engages watch enemy support for engage animations, as he/she will engage on you next
- ADC range leash=>only be in position of 1 person from enemy team at a time. Reposition as necessary.
- As jungler when to change fro yellow to red trinket
- As jungler, buy often 3 times in the first 10 minutes.
- Counterjungle enemy jungler when he shows on other side of map, or take an objective or force a dive, whichever is best.
- If I see a situation where my mid laner has had his enemy freeze and put my laner far overextended, I will ask if my solo laner wants me to help bust the freeze (if jungling).
- Know your strengths and weaknesses. Work on weaknesses to turn them to strengths.
