New Picking/Draft
Just letting off a lil steam.
So there i was at team builder launch, enjoying the fact that I can now play exactly what I want without teammates being unprepared for an offmeta pick. It was great, the only downside was the frequency at which you were matched against the same champion. Tiny downside, whatever it worked.
Now wind the clocks foward a little to when some of the S6 info was rolling out. Buncha starry eyed moments of anticipation (lookin at you rift herald). Once the changes started hitting things were a lil iffy. I mean I play a lotta ARAM so things like 30 in one mastery tier for that lil extra oomph, and my favorite AD Caster Graves got hit and isnt really doable anymore as well as FLASH ULT BIRD DROPPINGS Quinn. Oh well, learned to deal with everything. The gold gain helped 50g pots not matter that much in the long run and the lack of mana pots stiraghtened out a lil of my haphazard spammyness (in normals and arams), something I prolly shoulda done anyway.
So then I notice that Riot are gettin ready to throw in the new pick and ban phase. First it was "hey that looks pretty good" IDubbbz style but then I saw it. I saw it and I knew what would happen. Oh how I knew. "Teambuilder is being removed now that we have implemented the new pick and ban phase" (paraphrased)
I tried to be hopeful, I tried to imagine it being a positive step forward and that I could still get my specific-to-my-immediate-interests champ picking on. So I try it out however many hours later with my friend for the first time. We wanna mess around bot, not throw but not strive for any olympic medals. I pick my two sup and bot roles in the new phase and so does he. "You must have more diversity to begin queue" (once again paraphrased)
But.....thats all we wanted to play. It wasnt ranked. Ok so invite another friend, he wants to do top or jungle. Bam 3 different positions filled, surely that would be enough? Nope. So rather than getting immediately salty I go fill and as ladyluck would have it I get put jungle, my initial friend gets bot and our 3rd friend gets top. Whatever. I try to come to terms with the fact that getting exactly what I want died with team builder. So I played jungle. GG
Queue with friend again tonight. Im fine playing whatever since I plan on picking Zed in all but bot adc role. The planning phase hits and Im given jungle. Good, smoothly so far. Zed jungle isnt the best but I love the champ and have made it work. Oh wait, it would appear the guy below me also wants Zed. GREAAAAAAAT. So we get to pick phase (im first pick hes second and our team is first pick). Dude types one thing in chat "reported". Im sure hes not actually pissed yet, just fuckin around. Fine, thats ok. Even though all I want to play is Zed fuck it Ill give him Zed for the sake bettering the game. So I lock in Wukong and bitch a lil in mumble with my friend.
And then it happens.
Otherside gets their two picks. First pick? ZED.
