Alright Riot.. Come on now with the Verbal Abuse shinanigans.

You guys have got to come up with guidelines on what's Verbal Abuse and what's not. I've been reported countless times in my life for either A) Sticking up for myself when someone reamed me for no reason, and I trash talked back. B) Someone claims to be something they're obviously not, and just feed like mad, and I call them out on it - no profanity included unless they throw it first. C) My team claims I didn't do something they called out to do, or I purposely didn't because I had something better going on to potentially get us a W, and they ream me for it, and again, I retaliate with a few words of my own. Last, D) The enemy team either - A - Mocks me with either player taunts or straight shit talk, and I come back at them, or - B - I poke a little fun at the enemy laner for being a little, too, easy, considering the rank/level I'm at/on.

Now, I come from a FPS background: Counter-Strike 1.6/Source/Go, Quake III/4/Live, and a little Starcraft: II (not fps, I know). So I can take shit talk, just as well as I can talk some smack of my own, but I've yet, and I repeat, yet, to report anyone for being Verbally Abusive, especially if I'm going to either start it, or talk shit back. I may have reported for someone going AFK or Intentionally feeding, but seriously riot? Do you guys just look at my account, count up how many times I've been reported, and just take action from there, or do you actually look at the in-game chat? Does the person whom reported me ALSO get some form of punishment for talking shit? I'm not the type to just throw profanity out at someone because they're doing bad, because I know we all have horrible days. I recall days I've been on a 5-6 game losing slump, and I beat my self up for it, on top of my team beating me up, but I will throw a little humor into their doing bad by saying something like "Stop feeding son" or "Pick it up bud, quit feeding and we'll win this." Unless it's intentional feeding, then I'll just be blunt and tell them to quit their shit, and just play the damn game.

Why is it, that I get chat restrictions, week bans, and "Keep it up and you'll get banned" threats, for my actions, when others whom are actually being Verbally Abusive, the ones reporting me, don't get a thing? I'm not understanding it Riot. Please help. Yes, I can quit talking in-game, but what fun is that? Trash talk is fun. It allows for laughs. I can assure you we don't eliminate trash talk on the football field, or during sporting events. It's part of competitive play. Stop restricting me for holding my own and being my defense. Please. Akali

Mute them, stop shit-talking back. You're no better than them if you do it too.

Oh yeah, like how I get reported for racism after being called a N....r countless times. Eventually I say something like, "Shut up n....r. See? I can say it too!"

I mean, sure, it's not nice to say it back, but who cares at that point? The point of the matter is, I get reported and given a fucking message on my behavior if I just up and ignore them, or I can talk back and get reported for what I say... Lose-Lose situation where you guys just don't care anymore.

I figure, if I'm gonna "do the time" I may as well "commit the crime." (Not that I have ever been punished yet... It's rare when I straight go off on people, but when I do... It's a full on assault that can be worthy of a ban itself.) Hell, piss me off and it's my given right to fire back any insults they throw at me. "What comes around goes around." We all learned this as kids.

EDIT Stupid asterisks system... Can't even self-censor a little to get a point across...

I think back when the tribunal was up this happened less. Because players could actually take the time to read through chat. Riot on the other hand would obviously not have such a luxury and quite likely do it the way you say, which is if you get enough reports you get chat restriction or banned. They wouldn't have enough man power to sift through every chat log and read them for verbal abuse or offensive language, and then make a judgement call on if it's really worth a restriction or ban. The best Idea is to just not retaliate right now otherwise you will just keep getting reported as well. Maybe once the tribunal is back up and running (if it ever is) it'll be worth the risk to trash talk back, but right now it's probs not really worth it since like I said Riot probs just has it set up so if you get enough reports against you, you get restrictions and bans.

If people feel like shit because a kid on the internet talked trash, then don't play online games with other people. It's a game. How weak of a personality do you need to get offended by words over the internet?

I minimized my conversations with my teammates but I had been trolling normals by

A.) Breaking the Meta. B.) Unintentionally killing my teammates with Anivia.

Result= 45 game chat restriction.

GJ Riot you stopped me from conversating with the morons I'm still killing every game.

Their punishment system is a joke, whoever created and worked on it deserve cancer. Or at the very least fired.

You want a guideline for what's verbal abuse? Here's an easy to remember general statement to write on a sticky note and place on your monitor while you play:

  • Don't be a dick, bro. Ever.* That pretty much covers...

Don't trash talk someone back when they trash talk you. You mute and report at the end of the game. Don't try to defend yourself. Don't criticize someone else's play when they don't specifically ask you to (no matter how many item 3131 that Brand buys). Don't type anything to the enemy team other than "gg" at the end of the match. And no, "gg easy" is not acceptable.

Hi all..want to make a suggestion ...I am trying to read this from top to bottom. If you would try not to write text blocks it would be easier..Can u try and break up comments into paragraphs ?

Not just for me, but so others might read all and not just TL;DR
