Server ping spikes are too frequent

All the troubleshooting I've done has shown that my connection is fine. Everything is working on my end. I do not have any connection issues with any other real time online game.

Yet every game in LoL there is a ping spike. Many games are being decided over which team gets the worst ping spike at the worst time.

Sometimes nothing bad happens, but sometimes it happens and when the server catches up, all of a sudden my entire team is dead. Or the enemy team gets wiped with only 1-2 of them fighting back at all. This is assuming that someone isn't disconnected at some point during the game. Or someone isn't AFK waiting out a lag spike so they can rejoin the team.

I realize they recently made some changes to their server network to improve the ping of many players. I see many people are also having similar issues that they weren't having prior to the server changes. I would personally rather have a high ping over random spikes that decide games. Is there any hope for improvement on this?
