14 day ban for unknown or illegitimate reasons

So I got a stupid 14 Day ban over being matched up with players who are bad people in general. Here is some of the chat I got in my email that I got banned for. I wasn't cussing or swearing, and most of the game I was directing orders as a shot caller, since that's what I normally do and so does every other good team has one. Can somebody rationalize how I'm the toxic one compared to two other players in the game non stop verbal abusing me and roaming, making fun of my rank and going afk mid game to check my stats and stop playing. Riot needs to reform the way they ban people, it's unfair and unjust. Calling people a feeder when they are shouldn't make myself ban worthy, along with calling a player a noob for not listening. Try and rationalize with me please riot of how I come how became the perpetrator. When I'm the only player keeping the game in balance until two ignorant people start having fun by ruining it.

I know many other people are having problems getting banned over ridiculous reasons. I played this type of game for a very long time before LoL was ever released. I know how the game works, teamwork, and I enjoy it. I don't enjoy the way Riot doesn't do the smart thing. Leaving a irrational computer to automatically ban players for highlighting a few keywords out of context is pathetic and unprofessional. You can do better Riot.

For those who don't understand my title, I was never given a reason for the ban, it was instant. That is why I typed unknown. I wrote illegitimate because what I wrote doesn't truly apply towards bannable offenses.

Oh yeah... reporting them resulted in a ban of myself. I never received a report. The toxic players left very fast and I stuck around to watch them and see what they would say.

I can't tell if you're trolling, or honestly can not comprehend how insulting your own team is unhelpful and toxic.

No matter how bad they really are, you don't earn the right to harass them about it. Let them be bad. Just mute them and play your match and move on.

Calling somebody a " stupid Fn ugly ss n**r" is the "real" toxic players Riot should be banning. Calling somebody a feeder or a noob isn't. Nor was I ever spamming anything. You wouldn't understand since riot doesn't allow me to have their chat to compare, unless you know a way of retrieving it. Also telling people what to do is infused in a leader ship roll to winning games, even at a professional level. It's called shot calling.

If a policeman pulls over a driver and calls him a speeder, it mysteriously becomes offensive and toxic? There aren't any "he called me a feeder and he was correct" report subject. I also typed noob once, feeder twice. I'm still appalled how this justifies me receiving a 14 day ban for 3 non violent words.

Nope. Intentional feeding is, but feeding is not.

Regardless, insulting someone is a punishable offense. You can certainly disagree with that, but disagreeing with me about it won't do you much good. I have no more to do with making the rules than you do.

The difference, here, is that you aren't an authority figure, and you aren't describing an (ostensibly) objective fact. Instead, you're just another player, using a subjective and arbitrary definition for a term.

Sorry, "violent words" isn't the standard. You may like it to be the standard, but it is not.

And while, yes, I did use rather intense sarcasm to make that singular point, that doesn't invalidate the point. Your comparison is invalid because you're comparing a player calling another player a name based on some arbitrary definition they created for themselves to an authority figure informing a civilian about an (ostensibly) objective fact. There's simply no point of comparison, there.

You stated that you should not have received your ban based on "3 non violent words." The implication of that is that violent words would be bannable.

Also, for the record, that word "may" is pretty important. That's me explicitly not stating your desires - rather expressing a possibility of what they could be.

It's probably worth mentioning that cussing and swearing are not inherently punishable offenses. Which is to say, using profanity (or not using profanity, as they case may be) isn't really relevant to a ban.

No, because toxicity is not a zero-sum game. It's not measured by comparing two players and punishing the "worse" one. Each player is addressed individually, based exclusively on their own actions.

Riot's stance on this is simple: "Retaliation is not okay."

A toxic situation started by one player does not make it acceptable for another player to be toxic in return. Both players are held accountable for their own individual actions.

Much of what I left in this isn't problematic by itself. In conglomerate, though, it represents a huge amount of negativity, a fair bit of insulting, and even a bit of berating. All-in-all, pretty toxic.

I will admit that by itself, this log is probably not enough to warrant a ban. But this isn't the entire case you were judged on. Rather, it's merely the game that triggered the case. The weight of multiple games like this may very well warrant such a ban.

I still believe the ban system doesn't account for defending one's self ever. Without the context, you're only assuming what is going on. You have no idea what is a reply to them or a call. This is not that.

Without the context, you're only assuming what is going on. You have no idea what is a reply to them or a call. You have no way of knowing. There's no proof of me retaliating either.

Well, the lack of knowledge is true. There are, however, some assumptions that can be made.

And while there's no proof of retaliation, there doesn't need to be. The point is that you expressed toxicity. Whether you did so in retaliation towards others, or did so out of the blue on your own is actually irrelevant to the equation.

To be frank I don't like you, so stop posting here please.

If not liking someone was all it took, these Boards wouldn't be particularly useful.

I Understand you are upset because of your punishment yet really no reason to say things like: "I know for a fact you don't belong in this board". That is a tad uncalled for.

The guy was mocking me earlier which is in fact more insulting than what I got banned for. My reply is definitely called for and I don't see it as very rude. I asked him once already to stop posting here, he continued again. He read my posts incorrectly and shoving words I never said into my mouth. He's not fit to replying to me.

Edit : That's hilarious. The guy insults me and I can't defend myself from him haha. Perfect example of a troll running rampant in a skewed system where punishments thrown in the wrong direction.

I didn't insult you. Why would I insult you? Insulting people is a pointless waste of time, and accomplishes nothing. My goal here is to help you understand the behaviors that led to your ban. Insulting you would be counterproductive towards that goal.

Look, I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot, I really am. And I'm perfectly happy to walk away, but it's gotta work both ways. If you don't want my input, that's fine. There's plenty of other people here who are perfectly capable of discussing this with you, and I wish both you and them luck in this endeavor. But you gotta stop bringing me into it. Op getting toxic in norms? wut I'm sure you've been reported recently as well. You don't get banned out of nowhere. I had a bad streak of games and received a warning. I was climbing out of bronze and I was massively frustrated that I had to do my promos several times. z.z So yeah, they keep track of your recent games and reports.

You spoke way too much that match as well. This could be seen as harassment. If I make a salty comment it's usually once that match and then I /mute all and abstain from chatting. Not hard.

I do indeed talk a lot, I won't deny it. There are very many lines since I talk during fights very well without skipping a beat or missing a spell. So you won't see very many full sentences from myself. Talking a lot should not be a contribution towards getting banned. Yes it's norms. I only play norms 99% of the time and there is nothing wrong with that. I do not recall getting a report in the past few months, let alone a ban. I never thought to keep track though. I made a smurf and it's first report was also a 14 day instant ban.

well, unfortunately the reason seems to be because a lot of your statements are directly targeted towards someone and should be left out of the in game chat. Also, a lot of the words you have used, even out of context, seem to make me nauseous

Is there any way to receive the other end of the chat? I'm getting a lot of negative feedback from people because I'm still being judge solely on what I said without the main context. Ban system doesn't even account for conversation or replies.

EDIT: I actually just noticed that I never received a report warning after my game. I did report the other two players. Did the bot somehow decide to ban me instead?

unfortunately not that I know of, but unfortunately the ways of the human brain are mysterious that only psychologists and extremists can really understand it. I myself had a player in a bot match (intermediate) who cared more about pentakills than the player experience. I was playing a champion just as dependent upon kills as theirs was and they get no less than 4 pentas that match and draw out the game intentionally, even leave me to die to the bots because they were obviously premade with at least 2 of the other people

toxic to the point where I would rather have a feeder on my team than someone who has obviously never received punishment for their actions going 20/0 at 10 minutes in against the poor bots because they roamed and kill stole, then like 61/2 by the game's end an hour later...

so there are all kinds of ways things can go wrong

edit: you should ignore the parts after this as upon further observation, that person is indeed trolling and/or harrassing and because the editing was too annoying to strike through, I deleted it

Your story reminds me of how I tried to teach a friend how to play league against the easiest bots. I played a bit in the beginning to show her buttons, skills, like attack and stop. She had the most kills and she never died and we were the only one pushing. As I stopped to explain more things about the game, 2 people were complaining hardcore for not moving for about 10 seconds. It made absolutely no sense of how people were acting, especially in a bot game where bots can barely kill you lol. Yeah my friend tells me I need to mute more but that would take away communication to an extent. If somebody says something game related, I would never know. League doesn't have a mic system to be able to communicate efficiently and using ping alone isn't descriptive enough to say something other players need to hear. Honestly I'm not looking to redeem myself but maybe I am. I wasn't afraid of getting reported that game because I was so certain I didn't break any rules or any of the report bans that league has available. Some may say I was toxic even though just the word toxic is just very vague and serves towards people's opinions. They didn't have to live through what I have to deal with to understand how truly toxic the other players were where as the things I said doesn't even scratch the surface of a bannable offense.

Your story reminds me of how I tried to teach a friend how to play league against the easiest bots. I played a bit in the beginning to show her buttons, skills, like attack and stop. She had the most kills and she never died and we were the only one pushing. As I stopped to explain more things about the game, 2 people were complaining hardcore for not moving for about 10 seconds. We all play this game. Your case isn't exactly special, everyone has seen people be assholes in this game. Yet most people don't respond like you did.

Name calling, bragging about your rank, using other peoples rank as a put down. Nothing you said was that bad on its own, though rape is probably considered extremely negative by the system even though its clearly not being used as an attack, but I've never seen riot directly comment on that one. But as a whole your chat is pretty bad.

What you or I consider an issue doesn't really have any impact on whether or not it actually is an issue. For those that take issue with rape being thrown around it is a HUGE issue and honestly it is probably worth removing just for those people even if its a small group.
