KDA is your Kill/Death/Assist stats. While a lot players think it should be one of the metrics for rising or falling in rank, it's not. Tha primary reason is because it favors the types of champions designed to get kills and deemphasizes the importance of objectives like pushing towers and actually finished the game in order to pad stats.
Elo... You don't see as many players using that term since the addition of tiers and divisions. Now, it's usually called MMR for matchmaking rank. It's a system that looks at your win/loss record (taking into account the MMR of your opponents) and assigns a ranking that it uses to try to place you in games with similarly skilled players. It's designed to place you where you have roughly 50/50 win/loss. Your mmr is also used to determine how much LP you gain or lose in ranked games.
Elo (or, more accurately, MMR) is a pretty simple system for determining relative skill. You start at a baseline (~1200) ranking, which increases when you win and decreases when you lose at a fixed rate. So, if you begin playing ranked, and have a 50/50 win/loss record, you'll still be at approximately 1200 MMR. Winning more overall would improve that somewhat. Where it gets complicated is when it interacts with the Ranked system.
Each Division of each Tier has an associated expected or approximate MMR. Division/Tier change is based on LP gains and losses, which are scaled rather than static. Specifically, there's a direct relationship between your LP gain/loss amounts and how far your MMR is from what's expected for where you're currently placed.
So, if your MMR is significantly above your current division, you will gain significantly more LP when you win than you will lose on a loss. Conversely, if your MMR is significantly below your current division, you will lose significantly more LP on a loss than you will gain for a win. The closer your MMR is to where it "should" be according to your division, the smaller the difference in LP gain/loss will be.
The elo/mmr system is kept secret so anything said about it has to be taken on faith.
The Ranks and Tiers can be thought of as a puppet show, while the hidden mmr or elo can be thought of as the puppeteers pulling the strings.
