As a support thresh main i Loved to see the new match history pages map's For Kills and Deaths, but i have always wanted an assist map.
Not that the maps matter that much anyways, but it's nice to see visually all of your assists.

Assists are already in the API, so it's possible for a third party site to show you where you got assists.
As for wards, Riot is very paranoid about letting people access that info. The current API only lets you know when you place a ward, not where you placed it. You can only get an update on a players location on the minute, so unless someone was placing a ward right then, you don't have any way of guessing where the ward was placed either.
I agree assists should be shown. But yea no wards. I don't people to know where i ward. :3
Showing where assists occurred is a great tool, it helps show where you were, and when; as well as showing you where you were unable to secure a kill. In my opinion it should simply be shown as yellow dots/symbols on the champion kills map, that is filterable as it is now.
Part of me is still hoping for a champion's page to show a kill/death map of the last 20 or so games overlapped so you can tell where you are often caught out of position, or simply to better your play-style.
