Normal game matchmaking is a joke

Over the past year i have noticed that matchmaking is constantly putting me with high elo players. While yes ik that these players may have the low mmr because they play ranked way more than normals. But this does not excuse the clear skill differential in almost every game i have played this year.

Being constantly matched against Diamond players and yes even the occasional challenger is morbidly depressing as a silver player. Some of you will say "treat it as a learning experience" which i tried to do for a while but it's just not fair on me.

yes, i have improved my skills i am able to comfortably beat other silver players but that does not mean i should be placed with plats and diamonds every single game.

i'm sick of it. i want to have fun. getting my ass wopped every game is not fun.

I'm not sure what you want here. If Normals just used Ranked MMR, then it would also be Ranked.

Come up with some kind of solution that doesn't result in Normals sharing your Ranked MMR, such as;

If you have a significantly higher Ranked MMR, you will get better MMR gains in Normals proportional to the difference.
What would that mean? While your matchmaking is entirely separate from Ranked and neither directly influences the other, you'll gain MMR at a fast rate in Normals as long as your Ranked MMR is ~1 tier+ higher. You'd still get Challengers in Silver games, but they'd jump up in very few wins.

Even with that solution there's no way to distinguish a Challenger smurf in 1000 MMR Normals. Brainstorm some ideas; otherwise you're just complaining.

Or just use the higher of the two for non-ranked.... Ranked will remain separate however if your ranked is higher then your normal it will use your ranked mmr for non ranked Matchmaking. This would cause your normal mmr to raise far quicker because of the higher mmr opponents while not affecting your ranked mmr at all.

Why would I want my Normal MMR to be the same as my Ranked? I play Normals to practice, and don't take it 100% seriously; if I'm forced into the same level of play as my Ranked MMR then I'll have a much lower win rate and can't even practice anything new. If I wanted to play at my Ranked level and be as competitive as possible then I'd play Ranked. I'm 100% against Riot forcing me to create a smurf to practice new things.

So "practice" against people of your skill level. You should not be able to queue against people of significantly different skill levels. Even on a champ a plat+ has never played their mechanics are greater then silvers....

Just because you want to "practice" doesn't mean you should be able to pubstomp.

If you wanted to actually practice a champion and are of a higher (plat+) elo you wouldn't want to play against people who don't really stand a chance. You would get more out of a custom game against counter picks.

Saying your normal elo should be lower because you want to practice is a false argument and complete BS.

In reality the only reason you don't want your mmr to be based on the Higher of the two is because you want to stomp people.

Are you telling me that you can practice anything at your highest skill level?

My example is that I main Nami. I play Nami only in Ranked, which means my Ranked MMR is almost entirely based on my skill with her. If I play, for example, Master Yi, I may as well be Bronze. There is no "stomping lowbies" when I practice because I'm practicing things I SUCK AT.

You're not thinking about this at all.

No I am telling you that mechanically a person who plays ANY role at a plat level has a better understanding mechanically then a silver. If you cannot play at your ranked lvl then tough luck. I guess that would be a good learning experience for you.

Right now your expecting low mmr players to play at a high level because a person goes to normals to "practice".

The bottom line is I don't care if you never played a character if your MMR is that much higher then you should be matched against them.

Just because you want to practice doesn't make the difference in skill any less. Your opponent cannot play anything at that level and should not be matched against people who can.

The truth is you still want to play against people who are far lower then yourself in skill level. You can make up any excuse you want. You can lie to yourself about the reason. You can lie to everyone about the reason that doesn't matter. You want to play against people who are less skilled because you want to win. Even when you "practice" you care more about winning then about the "practice".

There is nothing wrong with wanting to win. I think it is a good thing to want to win. It is what drives a lot of people to play games. These are all a good thing.. However wanting to win against people of far lower skill is mostly just being a bully.

If I liked to pick on lower elo players, then wouldn't I play my main in Normals? Nope, you can check; I have a policy of never playing my main in Normals precisely because I don't do anything you're suggesting. So you can get off your imaginary high horse.

Lol so true.. most of the time I get ranked with these Level 30 bronze/silver ppl who think they're the best, and salty MasterYi 's... but when I get matched against someone my level I wreck them. lol (I'm level 18 around)
