Question to those who want solo queue back:

What drugs are you on?

No, seriously, I need to see if I can get my doctor to recommend me a prescription. It's humanly impossible to grind out the games to improve your 1v5 skills to climb the ladder and not get frustrated before you make any progress, so I figured there's some altered brain chemistry going on here. But I have no idea what would make you chill enough to not suffer through all of this while still having enough mental faculties to play well and hold onto the determination to improve, so I'm just flat-out asking you guys.

So, be a good sport and spill the beans, will ya?

a) don't have people I know IRL that play league AND are around the same ranking as me. b) I can climb solo, I did it last season and I'm doing it so far this season. If you think it's impossible, you're either bad or you're setting unrealistic goals. You won't win EVERY game, or even two thirds, but you'll climb if you play well. c) I don't play often, so I can't exactly create a regular schedule with a consistent team

Take your pick?

Maybe because not all of us have friends available to grind ranked? And if we decide to go solo we don't want to get stomped by a premade 5 skype caller group. Which is also called not fair just in case you haven't noticed.

I don't even play Ranked and I still understand exactly why, so allow me to explain friend:

Solo-Queue and Dynamic Queue are frustrating for different reasons, and some people find one more frustrating than the other.

In Dynamic Queue you have a LOT (Since you get 0 in Solo Queue) more teams of 4 people being teamed with you, and hating on you all game because you aren't one of them. You also get more teams with 1 high tier and 1 low tier player, completely ruining the balance of your game.

You also completely lose out on a separate ranking that's based purely around your own ability to team up with strangers and progress up the ladder.

There are plenty of other reasons I, personally; can't think of well since I don't play ranked. By aye. You already know why Solo-Queue can be frustrating though,s o I won't bother with those examples.

Frankly this wasn't even the point of the topic, although a lot of this seems mostly for an explanation a solo queue is a dumb concept in a team game. And I don't really think it'll ever not be, not until the LCS has the pros play alone and get randomly teamed up with each other.

Maybe because a lot of us are tired of playing against/with boosters, smurfs, trolls, people who got boosted.

I'm tired of playing with people who favor their premade friend over the rest of their teammates. I'm tired of playing with boosted players who can't play for shit and losing because of them. I'm tired of trying to climb while being matched up vs boosters getting paid to boost shit players like yourself. If you wanna dick around and play with your friends that's fine, normals exist, or keep dynamic queue, just give us solo queue because we are tired of dealing with you.

Man your reading comprehension is something awful, isn't it?

ff4sk2 votes

It's a sensitive matter.

People want solo queue back.

And it's very hard to grind games nowadays with premades shitting up ranked

Atanchan1 votes

I think it's hard to grind games nowadays moreso because of the season's gameplay more than anything.

I haven't run into a single obnoxious premade and I'm still faring far, far worse than the previous season.

ff4sk1 votes

well last season for me things were a lot more balanced and there weren't as many boosters/smurfs stomping in lower rank so I managed to climb. Now it seems like games are decided by whoever has the most broken champions on their team and the premade with more smurfs

Atanchan1 votes

I dunno. Throughout season 5 there were definitely a bunch of powerpicks that were far above the curve, just like now. Though I can get where this feeling is coming from, considering the highs of champion power have overall increased so coming from the previous seasons can definitely make everyone feel absolutely broken when played in the proper situation - at least if you don't also have experience in DOTA, and you realize those highs are still pretty meh.

And honestly, I can't really tell if the number of smurfs has gone up or not. Maybe I was just unlucky in previous seasons and ran into a lot.

Man it's really easy to tell that nobody's reading past the first line of this post, huh?

Either that, or no solo queue supporter can actually prove that they aren't all robots.

It's also hard not to get frustrated to play against organized 4 man premades or have them on your team when they flame you constantly or just don't talk at all. :^)

Atanchan1 votes

Unfortunately, yeah, but considering playing solo seems to require being a robot anyway it doesn't really seem like slightly increasing the chances of getting flamers is really much of a sacrifice for ranked actually resembling competitive League of Legends for more people.

Jaj2ed1 votes

Idk. With the new champ select there's been less flaming. I found it a lot harder to climb this season.

It's because Riot has definitely nerfed 1v5 carrying and I can't really say that's a surprise, considering that while they've been kind of flip-floppy on it, they've always seemed to go towards this result. Nor can I really say I disagree, because that makes sense in a team game where the characters are designed so that you need others on your team to cover their weaknesses and promote their strengths. Plus, they actually took the focus off of the 1v5 mode being the meaningful competitive mode, so I can definitely say they're supporting that decision well.

Of course, it's pretty painful for trying to climb solo, but I can definitely feel what they're going for when I do have friends to play with ( even if they don't play ranked ) and I have to say it's pretty great.

Firstly, let me point out that you didn't actually ask the question but instead threading your post with unnecessary insults to antagonize instead of having the purpose to have a meaningful discussion. However I will answer your question regardless.

  1. The system is easily manipulated for lower skill players to climb by using higher ELO friends to carry them.
  2. It isn't a fun experience to be paired with a team of 4 than constantly berates you (period).
  3. As a result of the first point, the symbolic value of Soloque is lost as a result. For example, most people that play Soloque play it to assess individual skill. As a result, it being less of an accurate gauge to assess this is understandably an insult that this symbolic value has lost a part of its meaning.
  4. (Regarding your response to Sakaru) Your notion that you think that Soloque is a dumb concept in a team game is your personal opinion that many people do not share. Meaning that your devaluing of those opinions is a clearly narcissistic way of looking at things.
  5. The LCS is a measure of skill of 5v5 teams and therefore cannot be compared to Soloque at all. This analogy is a ridiculous as comparing dynamic que to LCS because it wouldn't be realistic in LCS if Doublift and Aphromoo randomly got paired in a game with Bjersen, Marin, and Oddone.

Let me finish this by making a risky assumption but one that I think may be true regardless. You are currently Bronze 3, not using this as an insult but maybe (as every person wishes) you wish to be ranked higher. Venting by calling something that you are succeeding in is precisely the problem. Much like calling a champion OP because you cannot beat them. Before you make a post only to facilitate angry replies you should first go in with a mindset of trying to learn, not assert dominance.

Actually I asked what drugs people who are so attached to solo queue take which allow for them to maintain playing more than like two games for each 3 / 7ths of a week before wanting to drive nails through their faces.

Which would be a proper way to start a meaningful discussion if one actually read that instead of reading the first line and automatically assuming it was an insult, considering the proper question behind it is "how do you manage to keep at it to actually make your effort relevant."

Then frame the question that way instead. The real answer to that question, in all honestly, is get better at the game and then you will climb. It isn't as frustrating when you are doing well.

Man, this comment really frames anyone who actually wants solo queue back as abuse survivors that still haven't fully gotten over the Stockholm syndrome.

Seriously, playing solo queue involves playing with four other people you can't rely on and may just flat-out verbally go off on you and make your games hell, and you don't even get pay off unless you're good nor can you try to improve your place without already being good because the emotional toll makes that nigh impossible. And if you do manage to improve? Goalposts are moved, suddenly what you're doing isn't good enough, and you might even flat-out lose progress. You can't even try to make it fun, because the only times you do are when you get rolled a blessing of a teammate that brightens up then experience.

Sounds a helluva a lot like dealing with an abuser, doesn't it?
