@Riot - How do you feel about modular League?
So while I haven't checked in on it recently, Valve is working on a new feature for DOTA 2 to allow for the creation of custom map - and, potentially, much more. Upon reading exactly how Champions are coded, it made me think of this.
What're your thoughts on allowing games with user-made modules to be run on private servers? Basically, sort of the way Starcraft 2 does it, except perhaps without the dumb arcade thing? I'd imagine it'd be better for the additions to be modular rather than part of one big custom map, though, to allow reimagined and custom Champions, items, game modes, and summoner spells be selectively chosen for the game's host.
From my perspective, I'm imagining something like this be run with minimal support from you guys past documentation and making sure it doesn't just break or break the main game. Maybe toss in a dedicated server to show various games waiting for new players, although I'd imagine this would mostly be played with friends rather than random people.
Frankly, I would love screwing around with creating my own abilities and Champions and game modes and stuff like that, so I'd love it if this was considered. There's probably a whole ton of work that would need to go into this, so I can understand if it's unfeasible or so far down the to-do list that it's constantly put further down by more important stuff. Still, I would love your guys' opinion on this, since I have a ton of fun with making game modifications in general and being able to do it with League would just be so much fun.
