Lifetime RP Rewards Suggestion

So, I read a reddit post by Hippalus a while ago. It stated that Riot is still trying to find a good reward for players that helped support the game financially by a lot, but a reward that wouldn't make players that didn't buy anything left out.

So here's the thing: I've spent about 400€ in League of Legends during my time playing it. Naturally, I think I have a say in the matter. So, with all that money spent, some of those RPs may have not been well spent in my opinion. So I suggest the following:

#For every few euros or dollars you spent or continue to spend, you are granted additional RP refunds.

Of course, for this to work we'd need to be able to refund anything we ever bought, no matter when. I think this is a very good solution to reward people like me, that have spent tons of money on this game (not that I need a reward or anything, but Riot is insisting on it so much that I want to help them out) and not leaving players that haven't spent ANY money on a free-to-play game left out.

Is it enough for everyone else? I'm not sure. But I think this reward would fit and solve any issues in not distinguishing players who have spent money and those who haven't.

The only reason to launch this kind of program is to show appreciation to players and create good feelings all around, and so the interest in moving forward dies quickly when we realize that just as many bad feelings will be created. So more recently our discussions have focused on what we can do to benefit all players and not just spenders. This has resulted in the return of double IP weekends and an increase in summoner icons that can be earned without spending. We continue to evaluate other ideas (like cars and wives/husbands for all!), but if they happen, they likely will not distinguish between RP buyers and non-buyers."

This here is not a solution, you cannot reward spenders by rewarding everyone. Would it not create bad feeling for spenders that others are receiving things for something they are not part of?

THere are rewards for being in silver, gold, platinum, diamond, challenger (master?). There are rewards for winning in ranked teams. What is the difference between this and rewards for spending money?

You got into gold here you go: victorious Elis skin. You just spend your money to support the game you love. Here you go: IP for everyone,

It does seem fair, doesn't it?

There is discussion similar to this on GD where I posted my idea which benefits both Spenders greatly, and non spenders slightly. It wasn't taken very well there.

I like the concept of Veteran Rewards, which can be earned several different ways, one of which might be spending money. On top of that though, you could receive rewards for playing the game for a long period of time, recruiting friends to the game, gift items to others, etc. Things that show that you are really helping support the game, financially or socially.

Imagine there are 4 rewards, and you have to earn points to get them. 250 for the first, 500 for second, 750 for third, and 1000 for last. What those 4 rewards are, idk. You can earn points in several different ways.

(numbers may vary)

  • 10 points per $5 bought(or RP equivalent).
  • 10 points per month you play 5+ games in.
  • 10 points per 5 friends you invite to the game.
  • 10 points per event you participate in.

Stuff like that. It greatly benefits people who spend money, but allows long term hard working gamers who play and support the game through other means to achieve the same goals. Maybe make the last 250 you earn to get to 1000 require spending RP so there is some 'RP buyer' exclusivity, but I still don't think that is necessary.

Thoughts?

As they said, there not doing rewards. Personally I think theres some underlying issue that needs to be dealt with before this can happen. As much as this saddens me that there won't be rewards for big spenders like you and me. I also could not care less about them.

Its kinda the same as with the Halloween icons that you get for charging RP to your account. It's nice that you have them but you will certainly not need them.

The more I think about Hippalus's answer on that thread, the more miffed I get, just because it doesn't fit with the logic that Riot has for exclusive content.

All that aside, it would be nice, even if it was early access to a skin (or that year's Arcade skin free) a week or two before it was released in the store. Mystery gifts for every X amount spent. SOMETHING.

Basically, some sort of "thank you" from Riot would be nice, but it seems they don't even want to do that.

I'd be happy with a Black Alistar and King Rammus skin. Oh well, still giving my cash money to Riot, even though I've become severely disillusioned about the direction the game (and design philosophy) is going.
