I haven't received a single key shard in 2+ weeks

At the start of hextech crafting, I was getting plenty of key shards, almost every two games. It's been about 30-50 games and I haven't even gotten one.

Every time you earn a key fragment, the drop rate for the next key fragment is lowered, and this will continue happening. The drop rate does reset approximately one month after you earn your first key fragment at the original drop rate.

The drop rate for key fragments is a curve, not a line. With each fragment you earn, the chance to earn your next one goes down slightly. This number resets roughly every thirty days after you earn your first key fragment.

Yeah, the chance is supposed to drop. However, it's been over a month and a half since my drop rate was below 10 wins per key fragment. First couple months... it'd get up to 10 games per fragment. When the reset would happen, it'd drop down to 3 fragments in 3 or 4 games. Then 3 fragments in 4-6 etc. Now for me, even after resets, it's 10 games or more for a single fragment. It seems to no longer being reset.

I get key fragments a lot! But I never seem to get chests. So I just stock up on keys :T*[slayer-jinx-unamused]*

I know the feel. :/ It's the only complaint I have about being a solo player. Having to rely on myself to get chests and even when I do get S's, I don't seem to receive a damn box with it. XD

You get fragments for getting S's on your team, yes its rng. They're not going to happen every game get 5 s's on your team someone on your team should get a key. Remember this, isnt meant to be given freely its earned. its a way for riot to earn a little money from sale of keys/chests you can buy keys/chests don't forget that. Its a free thing, they drop plenty. if you get 1 or 2 after 50 games your doing something right if you get 0 then something went wrong in your games. don't expect them every game. someone on your team has the chance to get a fragment based on the number of s's on the team. so get 5's then every person gets 4 attempts at getting a fragment(limit 1 a game) the 5th s is yours and you don't a fragment for your S to my knowledge unless its the 1st s on a champ a month. That being said that 1st a month occurs for everyone in your game so early in the month epect more frags late in the month expect less

No, the keys open chests. riot makes money off that aspect. its meant to increase proft

Of course they make money off it and of course it's a profit path. There is, however, a way to make an "ability" to pay for chests/keys feel like just that--and it comes in the form of those insane gemstone drop-rates.

As it stands, when a system is implemented that presents you with the choice between absurd grinding and purchases (a la farmville 2), it reduces player engagement and results in a core "addicted" audience that's willing to pour their money in.

Yes riot has implemented a system that by no means is "fair". You never know which skins/shards you will get from the chests. They're here to make money, by them giving us a way to earn skins without paying for them that is amazing. And still people want more than that..... Nobody is going to be happy until everyone gets everything they've ever wanted. Riot simply is being thoughtful with a way to generate a marginal revenue source while giving the community a way to earn stuff towards champs. it's free nothing about it is wrong

It's rng, but you don't get them for getting S's on your team. You have a chance of getting them simply by winning the match. The grade you get has no affect on whether you can earn a key fragment or not.

I'm the same. My key chance supposedly reset on the 20th of last month. I got ONE key fragment in 11 wins (more than double that if you include all the games I wasn't getting keys before the reset). I'm now on my 6th win and no key fragment yet. I feel ya there. It's been over a month and a half since my key chance reset down to where you'll see 1 frag per 1 win for a key or two (or even... one key fragment in 7 wins. That would be a lot quicker than what I have now). Which I got for the first 2-3 months. Now chests are more common than even key fragments.

I am now keeping a table of how many wins on what day I'm getting and marking WHEN I get keys.

Yeah, so I'm keeping statistics again (i deleted them because someone told me I was wrong about what day it resets and thought OH it must be right!... really wish i kept the data). I wish you could see which games gave you a key.
