Why does the afk counter still go on if you dc?

What i mean by this if you dc from a game, the timer for when you are considered afk for not moving is still going.

So imagine tha youre in the middle of a game. Your team is doing ok, not winning but not losing. Then something happens that causes you to exit the game and return to the client with the "reconnect" button. Like maybe your client crashes because your internet went out during loading screen.

So then you have to fix the problem because you dont want to be the sole reason your team loses. So you finally solve the problem and click "reconnect." Loading screen pops up and queue the elevator music in your head while you impatiently tap your leg in anxiety, hoping your team was able to hold on.

Suddenly "A Summoner Has Reconnected." YES i can make it up to my team and hopefully we can make a comeba-"You have been disconnected for prolonged inactivity. The game will now exit."

So now you have no choice but to click "ok" and disconnect and once again reload the game. I cannot emphasize the frustration i have felt on 3 different occasions.

Like i cant help but slam the palm of my hand against my forehead for how little it makes sense. So im going to reconnect to try to help my team out after dcing because of an unforeseeable and uncontrollable problem, just to be forced to dc again because of a flaw in the system? Logic op.

TLDR-Riot please change it so that the afk timer doesnt count down if we ARENT EVEN IN THE GAME. It would be much appreciated

The game uses the AFK timer to identify people who have spent X amount of time outside the game. This means that whether you are in game or not, you are being punished for your lack of being there. I go with the motto "Don't queue if you don't play".

Simply because you could click "Quit" and be out of game and NOT get in trouble for being AFK. If you reconnect then you won't get in trouble, if you don't you do.

I don't see the problem with the system, don't leave a game you can't be in and you wont get in trouble.

I agree entirely with you, the way Riot does it right now doesn't make any sense. If I went through the effort to restart the client and reconnect after a crash, it is because I still want to play. This has happened to me more times than I can count (at least once every 30 games or so) and it is extremely annoying. Half of the time it is possible to still come back after missing 5-10 min of the game, but when you repeatedly get kicked for being 'afk' it makes it nearly impossible.

Please fix this bug! Players in 4v5s everywhere will appreciate it
