A "Legacy" of changes
I've been playing this game since before Season 1. I can remember when the Twisted Treeline map had grass and a Dragon instead of the Spider "Vilemaw". I was working at an office depot store at the time, and we had a small selection of games on the software shelves. Among the crappy $2-$3 dollar bargain games, I saw a Box (Yes a Physical honest to god BOX) for league of legends, and thought "why not?" I bought it for $20 dollars I think, got home, opened the box and found a CD copy of League of Legends in a paper sleeve (Still have the disc for all you doubters out there) and a code key card. I installed the game and put in the code, and it unlocked all the champs the game had to offer at the time. Ashe, Sivir, "the Originally broken" Ryze, morg, kayle, and several other champs. You can still get something similar in the League shop.... I think its currently called the "Champions bundle" in the shop.
Anyway, I'm writing this today thinking about all the changes to League over the years. I still play regularly (albeit rarely ranked), and still very much enjoy the game. I am reluctant however to fully embrace the new client. I've queued it up... I've tried it.... It runs well, and I can't complain too much.... (but it's the internet, so I will...)
I'm not a fan of the new art style in the new client. Not a fan of it at all. I no longer recognize my rune pages, like at all. Also, speaking of rune pages, the drop down menu going from page to page trying to look at different rune pages seems extremely clunky and I am not a fan.
I do like some of the changes geared towards new players, such as the animations for the champ abilities being integrated better in the new client. This makes it pretty easy for newer players to research champs from within the client and not have to run to Youtube just to see a better quality video to see the character animations. I also like how the former profile section of the client has been broken into 2 sections making it easier to navigate.
So, all in all, I do not like the new art direction on the new client, but there are things I do like. Seriously Riot, You couldn't use the same bitmap images for the runes as before? Just had to create some new assets huh?
P.S. The store is still gltiches in both clients the first time you load it a session.
