Email before decay

A diamond friend and myself were talking about why he randomly dropped to plat 2. And he told me it was decay and he forgot about it. He hadn't played for 3 months because of school and such. Then I thought, "What if riot e-mailed you before you decayed" and he said that it would have been much more convenient for him to just hop on and play 1 game to prevent that.

I think the problem with this is the fact that decay happens to create a competetive enviroment, and riot doesn't want to encourage AFK people playing maybe one game. They should be going on anyways if they truly cared about their rank. Perhaps I am in the wrong here, and I am only bronze, but still, that's how I believe it should be
