@RIOT: Gifting idea...

I know the whole point of the then 2 weeks, and now 24 hours, restriction on gifting a new friend.. But why not at least consider implementing a text-messaging two-step verification method to remove that restriction per new player added? Or a way to gift strangers that would be a hell-of-a-lot harder for someone gaining unauthorized entry into your account to abuse?

My first thought was that the whole "tech debt" discussion is going to be the biggest reason why, but I am not hollering for it to be implemented tomorrow, just that my suggestion be acknowledged as to why ELSE it wouldn't be a be possible or how ELSE the system could be abused?

I like to mystery gift players who do well (while simultaneously not having been toxic) or players who show a level of sportsmanship unheard of in this community. And like today, I realized I didn't have the RP so I couldn't use the post-game mystery gift, and the player won't accept my friends request so I can't even do the willing-to-wait-24-hours mystery gift, and it's frustrating. I am not wanting such a feature be implemented only for me and only in that one situation of course, I can fathom SEVERAL situations where the restriction has been a bummer to giving Summoners, and praise Rito for lowering it to a mere 24 hours! That is a both a huge help while still being able to deter abuse. We still need that deterrence but I vote there should also be a way to override it when you are the owner of the account.

That's all <3

Edit: Or better yet Riot could give players options that they can only change once every 30 days, 90 days, or however long they deem appropriate (and only in the cases where reasonable), where you could decide to activate or deactivate two-step verification and how long you would like to set the gifting restriction for... Players using the two-step verification for instant access would put two weeks for extra security while players who do not use the two-step verification, or who do but still want the contingency, can select a shorter restriction period.

Honestly a 24 hour wait isnt that bad. I can understand why they implemented it especially since gifting is non-refundable. Someone gets into your account and does this 2 step verification wouldnt help. If you need to gift someone that badly just play a short game with them (ARAM/Vs Ai) and gift them afterwards!
