A Fix to Ranked LP (with leavers/disconnects)
Dear Riot,
So they is nothing more frustrating then taking loses due to people either rage quitting or never even connecting. This needs to be addressed in some way because it is a very real problem. Why should I take the same LP lose in a match that was 3v5 from the start? Does that seem fair or just in anyway to anyone? Same with someone who has probably been on tilt for several games and then decides this is the game they are going to "snap" in.
Now how LP should work in these situations is if someone never connects or intentionally disconnects they will take double the LP lose ( same with anyone they duo queue with). The remaining players will take no LP lose unless they were queued with that person. This does two things. Makes people think twice about queuing ranked with "spotty" internet or know connection issues. The penalty for the queue partner is in there so you can't snowball one person's LP by disconnecting on purpose. This would work the same way for someone that "rage quits" they will take the double LP lose same with their partner if duo queue. This will have no effect on normal people who rarely disconnect and never "rage quit". It will either cause people who do this frequently to drop "elo" very quickly or rethink "trolling" that game as it will be worth 2 loses and not just one. This system would give some protection to people who are victim of someone else's bad internet or are "tilting".
In the event that both sides have disconnects or rage quits. No victor would be rewarded and just the double LP lose for leavers on both sides. No victory should be awarded in this situation anyways and the focus should be on fixing this huge problem in ranked queue's.
