I've been playing since S1. I remember a lot of terrible balance decisions (full AP Master Yi, release Yorick, pre-last rework Evelynn, the Juggernaut rework), but it's nice to see that Riot has been doing a lot better this year. Especially with the announcement of the Kog'Maw rework being reverted. This is the first time Riot has ever admitted that they made a huge mistake and outright reverted the change. They usually try to fix things they mess up with by putting bandage changes on them, like for a lot of older champions who were once broken nerfing their kits into the ground until they could get around to giving them a full rework. Dragons are in the best spot they have ever been in (they give buffs that are actually impactful and it's not the old dragon who just gave 300 gold to around the board). Reworks are strong, but have reasonable counterplay (Yorick - fight him before he builds up his ghouls, for example), and it feels like, until snowballs start rolling, most champions have the potential to be the best champions if you're more skilled than your opponent. The game is, in my opinion, in the best position it has ever been in. A lot of people say that League is dying because a number of big streamers have quit the game, but really they're just getting bored with it, and they're still getting replaced by more players than are quitting. It's not the same growth that the game once had, but it's still growing overall.

Oh, and if you need some background to the old op things I mentioned up there: Full AP Master Yi had a 100% AP scaling on his Q and a 300% AP scaling on his W, so he did a billion damage while being literally impossible to kill (especially then, getting 1000+ AP wasn't difficult, even with also getting 40% CDR, so you were healing for like 3000 health and dealing well over 1000 damage per Q, plus the reset on his ultimate was a thing already, so he would Q onto someone, kill them, pop W, Q onto someone else, kill them, pop W, rinse and repeat. Literally, if you didn't get at least 3 pentakills in an AP Yi game, you were likely reported for being bad, even if you were 100/0). Release Yorick's ghouls didn't have the oppressive mana costs they had before his rework and they were far stronger, so you would just throw ghouls at your opponent and kill them over and over and over again, not to mention that his W and E had much longer range (at the time, all 3 of his basic abilities spawned ghouls). Not to mention that his ultimate revived an ally with full health for 10 seconds. Before Eve's latest rework, she had the same infinite stealth, but you couldn't see her if she came too close and she had a lot more damage than she currently has. I never played with release Eve, it was reworked out in beta, but it was even more busted. Q was the same, W was 1 minute of stealth, E was mostly the same, ult was her current W on steroids with the passive of "On kill or assist, regen 80% of your max HP and mana." Have fun with that one.

I have played League for about 6 years, and I have loved it the whole time. It is certainty an addicting game, isn't it.
