Is it actually possible to carry a whole game by yourself?

Is it possible to carry a game? Yeah, is it possible to carry any game? Not so much. A few champions can chew through individual targets and heal back up quickly (think aatrox, Yi, Jax, Riven), so if the enemy team never coordinates on you, you could kill them all and then take objectives and your team can tag along for the ride. But a team will beat a player any day of the week if they know how to deal with that player's champion and how to work together.

Some players are better at carrying than others, but the max potential for a single carry is below the max potential for a team.

Well, depends what you mean by "by yourself" Like, in a literal 1v5 all your teammates are AFK, no. you can't do it. I feel like most of the time when someone is carrying it isn't just that they got fed and are now stomping the enemy, but that they also inspire their team to play well and coordinate. I see carrying a game as less like towing a cart full of rocks and more like leading a group of 6 year olds.

If you get to late game, yes you can as long as SOMEONE initiates.

It gets more and more difficult as you climb and with the reduction of snowballing although it is possible, it is getting to be very difficult. Back when I started in S3 if you crushed your lane hard enough then you could easily carry the game, but now due to the increased importance on rotations, grouping for objectives, ect. it is more difficult.

I have had 1-2 games in the last couple months that I would say I legit Solo-Carried the game and where my team and the other team agreed but usually even if you do very well your team still contributed a good amount to the win.

tl;dr You can still solo carry games, but it is way harder than it used to be and a majority of games cannot be solo carried.
