when did the howling abyss become the murder bridge? Thats just.. awkward. It has no ring to it

When the announcer says the name of the map there is a rare chance she will say murder bridge instead of Howling Abyss. It's an easter egg, not an official change.

ARAM was usually played on the old tutorial map, which people called murderbridge because it's a bridge on which you commit murder.

The name carried over to HA.

Murderbridge was actually a nickname Howing Abyss got when it was on PBE (not sure if it was a nickname given by the devs or the community). The occasional easter egg "Welcome to the Murderbridge!" from the announcer was a throwback to that.

ARAM was played on the tutorial map and got changed when Lissandra got out. At the time, you had to play on custom games because there was no queue for ARAM and someone once said the joke : It's not ARAM, it's the murderbridge. Rioters loved the joke so much they used on the new announcer when they created the queue. The thread amplified the joke by alot and it sticked...

Yeah, I misread at first. Also forgot the 'Proving Grounds' phase since it was basically just HA minus the icy theme.

Murder Bridge is a community created name for the map that ARAM is played on, due to the objective being less about taking dragons/towers/etc. and more about killing each other 50 billion times. Originally it was given to the map that we used before the Howling Abyss replaced it. The Howling Abyss is essentially a skin of that map (with minor differences), and thus the name carried over to the Howling Abyss. The announcer will sometimes call it the Murder Bridge as a fun easter egg.
