Riot is going to Lose

Riot has created a wonderful MOBA game we can all agree on that. But what concerns me is Riot's deep involvement in the meta. It seems to me that Riot is scared of the game changing. The changes to the Turret's starting armor was for nothing but to shorten the leash on diverse play. Riot, let players figure out what to do, we don't need you to hold our hands.

The only reason why I'm writing this is for my deep love of League of Legends and I'm afraid you will become less of a powerhouse once Dota II becomes more popular.

The turret changes weren't to 'shorten the leash on diverse play'. They were to stifle a single strategy that was far and away better than anything else in competitive play.

For a while, if you watched LCS, every single game was 2v1 in the top and bot lanes, making it a race to see who had a faster pushing lane, or who's typical-top-laner was better at farming under tower and slowing down that push. It even got to the point where junglers would abandon their jungles fairly early, and just aid in a 3v1 early push for a tower, rather than ganking elsewhere.

If you've been watching any of worlds, you'll notice that this has died down tremendously since the turret change. It has actually opened up a variety of strategic plays by the teams. Sometimes they go for the 1v2 side lanes, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they try to push those first towers down real fast (we still saw some sub 5-minute towers taken), sometimes they don't. There's more focus now on teams making strategic rotations with their teams to gain or keep whatever advantage they can.

On other hand, DotaII got a lot better solution to deal with Ranked game rage(lost game for quiter, afk). When Riot was like "it's still fair, f*** you guys"

And the league sysyem is pointless imo. What is the meaning of it when a Gold I queued with a Silver III???

Riot doesn't enforce the meta the playerbase enforces it, I can't count the times I've had people report me for playing an ADC mid because "it's not the meta" even though I completely dominate the lane. Riot even lists Jinx an ADC as being a mid lane dominator but people won't play her in that lane for fear of breaking the meta.

Riot recognizes that if they ever stop changing the way the game is played then their game will die. The meta is constantly evolving thanks to Riot's patches, even if it isn't instantaneous.
