False reports give chat restrictions

I received 26 games of chat restriction for absolutely no reason at all. Then I mad 1 million % sure that the next 26 games, i went out of my way to only type in chat positive remarks. Literally the only things I said were "good job," "dont give up we can win," and "ggwp". I was still reported for "negative attitude" and "verbal abuse" pop-ups at the end of 1 or 2 games even when I only said these remarks.

As a result, After 26 games were up, I received another 38 games of chat restriction. I kept up the same behavior, thinking that it was just a flook. Keep in mind, I said ONLY positive things in chat. I barely even talked at all because I didnt want to waste my messages in game.

I would still get pop-up messages that I'm getting reported for verbal abuse or negative attitude. One game in particular I played Katarina and went 15-1. I said not a single word in pre-game, in-game, or post-game chat. I STILL got reported for negative attitude.

I received ANOTHER 44 games of chat restriction. This proves that false reports give chat restrictions and I request RIOT to disable the rest of chat restrictions I have on my account. Look up my last 100 games played and I guarantee that you will not find a single thing negative whatsoever. In fact, everything I said has been positive that should be rewarded.

Chat restriction is automated because tribunal is down and has been down for over a year. It's a lazy way for Riot not to have to deal with it. I find it hilarious that Riot won't put in great ideas because the minority might abuse it but yet they have a report system that the majority abuse.

Either way, get prepared for people to call you a liar and flame you and say they never been chat restricted and it must be you.

Riot doesnt understand that pretty much every single game, someone is getting reported. I dont remember the last game I played when people didnt say "please report ____" .

For my next 44 games of chat restriction, I am not saying a single word in pre-game, in-game, or post-game. I cant wait to see if I get slammed with another 50 games of chat restriction

I don't even know if that has to do anything with people reporting you. I flamed really heavily for like 3 games in a row and I got chat restricted. I mean, OK, seems logical. I was positive in those 65 games and at the end my chat restriction tripled.

that's because if you get reported in those 65 games it will trigger another chat restriction. I remember when I had 100 game restriction and i was positive everygame to get ride of it, yet when it was over I had a 300 game chat restriction or something like that. Riot doesn't reward you for not being toxic, it only punishes you rather you were toxic or not based on trust players won't abuse the report system.

It's a flawed system, always had been. Power to the trolls apparently..

My question is why can you report for verbal abuse if you have the option to mute? Isn't that rewarding laziness with stupidity?

What's worse is eventually you will get suspended when those reports stack up. 20+ million players, do you honestly think Riot can check every report? That's why they had tribunal and now the automated system until tribunal is up again. So I wouldn't doubt the suspension system isn't auto mated either considering it seems everyone gets suspended usally on the same day or at the same time.

Me and two of my friends got a 2 week suspension at the same time and we hardly play together.. so that kinda proves right there suspensions are also automated based on the amount of reports you get.

Or... it proves that suspensions are being issued in "waves," so that they all hit together. Which would allow Support personnel to be prepped and ready for the influx of tickets that go along with such a wave.

Which is, y'know, exactly what Lyte stated they were doing when they started doing them.

Bad idea. I tried this. Didn't work. I tweaked during one single game (against a legit intentionally feeding Annie. I got her two games in a row. First game, I thought she was just bad and our adc was a dick, second game I realized that she was in fact trolling and intentionally feeding) and got like 17 games restricted. I said absolutely nothing bad during those games only to receive a 34 game restriction next. Emailed support and he literally said "it is important to note that you could be receiving additional chat restrictions without doing anything wrong"....what the actual fuck lol? He then said, "your punishments are adjusting to the health of your account, and your health is improving" I said, support guy, that makes no sense. You say my health is improving and my punishment is reflecting that, yet you give me twice as harsh of a penalty? he said "your punishments are adjusting to the health of your account, and your health is improving"...what the actual fuck again lol...I said read what you wrote you moron, that makes no sense. He said I'm sorry if it is confusing, but I cannot go into further detail. The end.

Riot doesnt understand that pretty much every single game, someone is getting reported. I dont remember the last game I played when people didnt say "please report ____" .

If you wanna put it on Twitch or YouTube then maybe I'll believe it, but until then this is just confirmation bias at its finest. People do not report every game; you want to believe that people report every game.

there is no reason not to report every game. no leash for jungle? bot lane reported. not enough ganks? jungle reported. the other team beat you? report them all.

there are no consequences for false reports that I have ever heard of. how could there be? but there are consequences for getting reported. its a pretty bad system.

Consequences of false reports:

  • Lowered report weight, meaning your reports are less effective, and eventually meaningless to the system.
  • Escalated bans.

It's happened before. It will happen again. Players who attempt to abuse the system are ignored by the system, and if they continue to try, they are banned.

how would they know the reports are false? do they review entire games? if someone gets reported for dancing around and laughing every they kill someone as negative attitude its not really a false report.

its impossible to determine unless they watch millions of games to see exactly what happened.

When a player has been reported in enough games (used to be 12-25% of their total played games, and I imagine that hasn't changed much), a case is built against them. That case is then reviewed - whether by chat detection software, manual review, or both. If the review determines that the player is indeed guilty, they're punished, and the reporters have their weight increased.

If the review determines that the player is innocent, they're pardoned, and the reporting players have their weight decreased.

Keep in mind that beyond full chat logs (including pre- and post-game chat) for every game, Riot also has the ability to view play-logs of every game (on what I believe to be a 3-5 second time-lapse). Every word and every action is available to be reviewed.

Except that they don't need to. They only need to review the games related to the cases that are built by the reporting system. Most players never have a case built against them, because they never receive enough reports, even ignoring report weight.

And they needn't necessarily review all of the games in a case. For many - if not most - cases, a cursory scan of the most recent handful of games is sufficient to determine guilt (as in, punishable behavior can be found there). For the rest, there's more tools available.

what you say sounds like it would be a good system. the problem is a lot of people are getting banned wrongly sometimes without even saying anything at all. so I feel like the system you are describing might not be what they have in place

And this is where I ask you to source your claims. I've never heard of a wrongful ban that wasn't overturned. And I've only heard of 3 of those.

And while I've seen plenty of people banned for things other than verbal abuse/toxicity, it's always been because of other forms of toxicity (intentional feeding, trolling, assisting enemy team, etc).

Honestly, the system I've described is the exact same way that the Tribunal worked. Except that it's Rioters doing the judging, rather than players.

While this is great in theory, the number of false reports still hurts the player base. Eventually, false reports won't be worth as much, but tell that to the people who were banned as a result of false reports.

Reports don't lead to bans. Reports lead to reviews. Reviews lead to bans. It's highly unlikely for a player to be falsely banned - because the system is designed expressly to minimize that.

In fact, I've heard of only 3 bans since the Tribunal went down that were genuinely unwarranted, and were overturned on re-review - along with a personal apology from Lyte. And the most recent of those was, iirc, back in August.

maybe your perception of positive/neutral is off. its tough to judge sarcasm and tone on the internet. from what i've seen when accounts with increasing chat restrictions are reviewed, they were actually not improving from what got them restricted in the first place other than limiting their most toxic behavior.

Same thing happened to me. It's very annoying, especially since support does absolutely nothing when you try to talk to them. All they do is copy and paste some bullshit answers that have nothing to do with your question.

They took down tribunal because "meh, we think it needs fixed" and replaced it with "we are going to give out chat bans like crazy and give you absolutely no reason why we did it". Bring back old tribunal.

This exactly. Tribunal at least allowed you to see what you did wrong, regardless if you agreed with the judgement or not. Chat restrictions are given for free without a chance to know how you wronged or a way to appeal.

How is that fair? It's like being sentenced in real life without somebody informing you had a trial or even are a suspect and when you ask why you got thrown into the jail, you hear, "You know what you did! Suck it up, filthy criminal!"

I mean, it only seems like common sense to include it. "Hey, you were chat restricted for X games because you said Y and Z." I'm not sure how that is not a common sense thing to do for their company to be honest lol. rito claims that they review each case and it's not automated, so it wouldn't take them any longer to do it. This is our conversation. Very frustrating. I would honestly be embarrassed if I gave this kind of support to my patients. Their actual reason as to why I got a chat restriction punishment, was because I said, "calm down ffs" to a "smurf" that was harassing a teammate.

Tell me something I don't know.

  1. You send a ticket to the support.
  2. The response has nothing to do with the question.
  3. You rephrase the question/ask it again.
  4. "Oops I can't answer that question! X specialist will contact with you shortly" response.
  5. A month later still no "X specialist" response. You bump up the ticket.
  6. "Sorry for delay." Go back to step 2.

You're probably like me. You come off as rough and tend to disagree a lot with others opinions. You're not mean you just state what you think.

Example of this. "You keep dying for dumb reasons, get some wards and ward up." Me. "Will you just gank for me?" Laner. "I will when I can but you can't be feeding alright." Me. "Wow report this jungler he's trolling." Laner.

That is pretty much every game for me. These reports stack every game and make us look like were toxic all the time. Kind of frustrating IMO.

Its cause you said dont feed. You implied to him that you think he is bad enough to feed. Often this makes midlaners play worse. I main mid and when the jungler says stuff like that you get more nervous. Try saying. Just stay and farm until I come" . No need to add more tension to the coversation. if you are gonna come gank just say you will , if you are going to gank and if your not just say ur not.

Not being able to talk to your teammates is a pain in the ass. You can't tell jokes or make a come back when someone flames you. My League crashed in the middle of the game and I could not reconnected, no matter how many times I re-log. Eventually I could connect and it said: "The game you are trying to join no longer exist." I re-log and I got a 10 game chat restriction. What the ACTUAL FK!

Funny thing is, I got so many chat restrictions by stupid reasons, and they never count! I ended up getting my mystery gift even though I had my chat restricted. I remember the first time I got one, I just logged in and I got it. I was like dafuq? I had my friend log in from the same computer and he immediately got one too. I was even more shocked.

I recently had a game, the first after my chat restrictions ended, and I said nothing all game but my teammates were very abusive. I was a solo in a 4 man queue. At the end of the game I was reported 5x by the enemy team for verbal abuse. I asked the enemy team why they reported me as I said nothing all game. Their response was "you should not queue up with a-holes and or be silent when teammates are negative". I cannot control the actions of others and mid way through the game I was so sick of the back in forth crap in all chat that that I just hit /mute all. How is is fair that the next day I log in to 132 games of further chat restrictions? I assume it may have been the day before I was also hit with several reports for taking blue as jungle and was reported by a duo queue and I also beat mid lane 16-2-10 and at the end of that game the enemy mid laner said "enjoy your chat restrictions" and the report box pops up. This has really got to stop.

I just received another 82 chat restriction games for saying absolutely nothing in those 44 games. Riot really needs to remove these. Because there is obviously a flaw in their automated system.

No matter what people say, I'd buy this. I got chat restricted for roughly thirty games when the message tells me no reasons as to why I was chat restricted. The last game I played, I remember distinctly acting like a competitive player instead of a stinker. Everyone was joking around in all-chat and things were relatively harmless. The only explanation I can come up with is that I flame a lot on PBE. Like a lot a lot. That's mainly because PBE is a tilt inducing nightmare of a server that is basically the definition of anarchy. Now, for this to transfer over to my live account makes no real sense. I get reported for stupid reasons, but it just doesn't add up why the amount of reports weighs more than the story behind each report. If the automated system doesn't work, you should at least change it by now. To quote Egoraptor (although I will get very negative responses for using his quote), "If the formula doesn't work, you change the formula." It's no different just because it's an automated system.
