Why Bother (ranked placement)

so i finally finished my placement games for this season. i climbed from bronze 5 to silver 3 last season before hitting a slump and dropping to silver 5 right before pre-season. so i was really happy when i did well in my placement matches going 8w-2l (2 losses were games with afk, but whatever). i did good too, getting a B or higher in my games. well i was pissed when i got put into bronze 4. not that i think that i'm amazing at LoL but it was like getting an A- and but being told you're failing a class.

So my question is, Why bother making me play placement matches when even if i do well, i am still going to be placed in a really low tier?

After Placements, you won't be the same rank you ended S5 / S6 Preseason as.

If you deserve to be a higher rank, then eventually you will get there.

For those who don't understand why there are MMR resets and why Placements are how they are take into consideration the following.

The game is constantly changing, Players can be a Bronze material player one patch and a Gold Player in another patch. Don't expect to be the same rank every season just because you ended S5 as X rank. The game is always changing that means the player must adapt to these changes. Some players adapt to change better than others, that is why they are ranked higher. The point of the MMR Reset is to display how a player has adapted to these changes, which means the rank you're placed at isn't so significant. 10 Game is statistically not a large enough sample size to draw any conclusions, so stop worrying about your Rank and continue playing more games.

I've consistently been placed lower each year. I've had friends who've lost all promos get placed in the same spot as me.

Honestly don't let it bother you. If you're already doing well you'll climb in no time. They're basically saying "Here go stomp scrubs for a bit"

Essentially you're at the thanksgiving little kids table because your little cousin is afraid to be alone.
