So I was wondering who would be the better mid, Xerath or Malzahar? I like longer range champs, which is what attracted me to Xerath, But i really enjoy Malz's E & voidling combo. Besides these, any other Mids you would reccomend?

Xerath is probably the best long ranged mid lane champion. If you enjoy pummeling your enemies from afar, buy him.
Malzahar on the other hand has considerably less range than most other mages. However, despite being a mage, this guy counters every single assassin with his ult, W, E, ignite combo. All his abilities besides his Q is easy to use, and he doesn't have mana problems as he gets mana refunded when he CS with E.
If you already have an arsenal of long ranged champions, I would say buy Malzahar as a counter-pick to assassins.
Another good long ranged champion you can consider is Viktor. His E's range rivals Xerath Q's range if used correctly.
