League graphics with DirectX 10/Soft Particles
I'm not sure whether League uses DX10 (or any DX version later than 9.0), but if the implementation is possible without scrapping everything in place now, I think that'd be a great way to enhance visuals for more advanced systems.
My biggest concern is the look of some champion spell effects on the new Rift. I know that there're a number of champions who haven't been optimized for the new SR yet, but I'm hoping things will change particularly when it comes to smoke-like effects. All of my settings are turned up to the highest, but I noticed that Tyrant Swain's Nevermove (W) uses some dated smoke effects around the ring. The smoke looks like tiles placed on top of each other repeatedly to make it look like actual smoke. While this method is relatively effective, the use of soft particles, as indicated in the linked video (1:57), could make effects like these much more smooth and realistic.
If you need to see what Tyrant Swain's Nevermove (W) looks like, here's the YouTube link.
I feel that in general this would be a great way for more powerful systems to get more from the game while allowing champion effects to better match the quality of the new SR.
Just my opinion and I know it's kinda nitpicky, but oh well. I think this would be pretty cool to see implemented. Any thoughts on this?
