If Lyte commands the banning system in LoL I want to ask a few questions.

Harmless ones of course, none with rage atleast. Obviously if any non-Rioters know these answers please chime in.

  1. How many reports does it take to get Riot looking at what's wrong? Most players that I report I never see again. From time to time a friend will give me a description of a player who fits the person I've reported pretty well. I assume that the famous x9 report would be enough to get some attention if everyone on team saw the person as an overall burden but i have no real knowledge of what goes on.

  2. Does a report not get filed if the person is reported for something they didn't do but they did violate another term on the reporting tab. I.E. Is the difference between reporting for Verbal Abuse and Inappropriate Language two large steps away from each other?

  3. What happens if someone is reported on the PBE? Who does that kind of report go to?

  4. With the game being able to block out cuss words for being volatile with the filter on, why isn't LoL able to automatically read who's being wrathful and ban accordingly?

  5. Why aren't there any symbols on players to show they are toxic? (i'm assuming its to hold back from discrimination but it seems like the most effective way to not get baited into a troll making someone rage and get reported then banned.)

That's all i have for now and if anything else turns up I'll update the page. Thank you for your time

  1. it is based on what Riot calls "report density", which is : (number of games with reports) / (total games played). When Tribunal was up, getting reported in more than 12-15% of games over time was usually enough to get you looked at.

  2. yes, you can get in trouble if you're reported for one thing and when Riot (or Tribunal) looks at the game they think you did other bad stuff too.

  3. not sure, probably Riot handles them due to the lower player volume.

  4. they already do that, part of the chat restriction system is automated just like you suggested. Actual bans are reviewed by real people to prevent false positives.

  5. as you suggested, putting a "scarlet letter" on players would make it much harder for them to reform. MOST players who get in trouble are not habitual offenders, they either just had a bad day or don't understand the behavioral expectations that Riot and the community have set out.

  1. Riot doesn't look at reports, but you get automatically punished after ~10-20% games with reports.
  2. Irrelevant, it's automated.
  3. Riot may look at those.
  4. "I'm retarded" -> banned.
  5. Because the rights of trolls are more important than the rights of other players to avoid playing with trolls.
