I jumped two divisions today

Anyone know how this system works or is it a bug?

If your MMR is considerably higher than your Rank (like a full tier), it's possible to skip. In your Leagues tab on the right where it usually says "Get 100 LP then win 2/3 or 3/5 matches to advance", if you are eligible to skip a tier division it will say so there.
