So i just want to have conversation about "toxicity" in games. I have never been banned for verbal abuse or had chat restriction before so i feel my opinion is unbiased. I have a few questions on what your position is and why.

I've played sports both competitive and casual for most of my life. In these games football, basketball, or whatever trash talk has always been a huge part of the game. It drives competitive spirit. Nothing IMO is more satisfying then scoring on the guy who just spent the last ten min trash talking your shot. Nothing makes you want to work harder and improve more then getting beat by that one guy who talked a whole lot of trash. In a lot of sports talking trash is even a legitimate tactic. Getting opponent mad so he loses his focus and makes a mistake is a common strategy and nothing thats disallowed or "ban worthy".

I know there was supposedly an incident with a kid committing suicide and even if its untrue i can understand where people use this as an example of a legitimate fear. However, if a person gets to a point where they let people online in a game get them that upset i would think they had a problem before hand and its not really your fault if they over react. There are limits to this of course and line should be drawn in even real life.

So my question is where does league draw the line? I often talk trash, hell my summoner name is even Im better then you. (yes i know its supposed to be than) Despite this ive never been banned before like i said earlier. So how far is to far and what is ban worthy in your opinion? If i say someone must be mentally challenged to be this bad, will i get banned? Is telling some one they are trash at the game banworthy?

I would very much appreciate a response though i understand you guys are busy people. :) PLS thumbs up so this gets seen

Trash talk does not translate well into text for one. Also in sports(and most other games) you choose the teams and people you play with which is, in my opinion, the most important factor. League you are matched with random players AND you are stuck with them for the duration of the game. Trash talk is just not appropriate in that setting. To compound on that unlike sports, league snowballs. That guy who killed you a couple times and trash talked is now not only slightly better like he already was, his character is objectively stronger. There is no push a tiny bit more, because it gets exponentially harder. There are really only 2 ways to come back. You can catch people out(which is avoidable), and to stall the game until everyone is full build.

I would like to point out that your examples of trash talking in sports are among opponents. Trash talking in league is 99% your own team. There is no strategy in being a keyboard warrior to distract yourself and your teammates and enrage them. Just toxicity. How far is too far? Any amount of trash talking among your own team is too much.

No. I automatically disregard the opinion of anyone under the age of 25 on account that their brain is not yet fully developed.

From the way you type, you are no older than 18. And if you are, I am sorry for your predicament.

Though they will not tell you it directly, I am fairly certain a Rioter won't have a "discussion" with you on the same grounds.
