thinking of just getting all the champs i play to lvl 4 mastery
rather then spam 1 champ to level 5, does that sound smart?

Mastery levels give you nothing. I'd suggest playing whatever you want and ignore the mastery levels. They will come on their own without you having to focus on them.
Mastery levels don't give you anything but Control + 6
If you want to show off your skills, try to do good every game and you will get there sooner or later!
