Irelia OP?

So I just bought Irelia and I've been playing her for a few games, and she has been SO FUN! I have not had as much fun with a kit since Nami, and she felt very refreshing to play. I did somewhat well with her, but laning was somewhat difficult(didn't know when to go in). Anyways, I don't wanna waste time on a champion that is banned or will be nerfed to hell. So if she often banned/complained about? Is she OP or UP or balanced? And also tips and tricks and builds on her would be appreciated.

Well as an Irelia main I can tell you she is quite balanced, she isn't always banned nor complained about. She's very well rounded. She should be fine for a long time unless Riot decides to buff or nerf her (again). As for advice, as you mentioned her laning phase isn't great. It is best if you just try to survive, but if she does get a good lead, she will wreck her lane. Even if you're doing bad early game, she can typically come back due to her kit.

I suggest starting with crystaline flask and then try and get your sheen ASAP into Tri-force. From there it is up to you, she can build full tank from there, full damage (not a wise choice but works), a hybrid of tank and damage. She's very flexible.

My ONLY complaint is that if you have no hard engage, is it very hard for Irelia to do well in team fights. She does phenomenal when there is a hard engage and where she is allowed to jump to the back line and just assassinate without costing her team or herself.

on paper her kit is op, shes op in the right hands, but shes not jayce or olaf op.
